Default What wax do you use on your Scion?

Well we have had our xB for 6 days now, and here in Florida we have these things called love bugs. The season will start again in the fall, so today I went out and put a coat of wax on the nose and mirrors. (Can't be too safe)

I was wondering what brand of wax everyone uses? I am using Meguiar's paste wax. What do you think?

I also saw Duplicolor has a spray on coating to prevent chips and bugs on road trips. Grey and clear. Anyone use it before? Wondering if it works, if we need to take a road trip I may try it.

i have mostly used regular liquid turtle wax, and it gets the job done. it isn't the most protective i guess, but it's a great base wax. i tried the meguiars paste and that stuff is so hard to buff, so i'm gonna stay away from it, as i do everything manually.
i heard the NXT line that meguiar's has isn't too bad,.
SCC endorses Mother's, so i might try that next.
a good wash also goes a long way. i use armor-all regular car wash for that.

All I will only use is Zaino products on any car I ever own, period!

I have used Meguire's, Mothers, Zymol, Liquid Glass, Pinnacle and a few other. NOTHING shines like Zaino or lasts like it. I waxed my xA back in November and it was still nice and shiny and beading water like mad up until I rewaxed it about a month ago.

Zaino is like crack for auto enthusiasts. Simply the best product for auto paint I've ever used.

There were a number of Meguiars in different prices, the paste I got was about the cheapest at about $6. It comes off pretty easy using the wifes old bath towels.

Default What wax do you use

Love bugs are killer on paint. Body acid will pit paint if not removed soon. I lived in Valdosta, Ga. for 14 years so I have first hand experience with them. Besides a good wax, something else that helps is to spray Turtlewax wet and black ( a heavy silicon spray for tires and rubber) onto the front of your vehicle. I spray the front edge of the hood, top edge above the windshield and posts, front of the mirrors and the front bumper, grill and headlights. This helps a lot. I have had no issues with it damaging my paint, use at your own risk. Another option would be a full face bra. What ever you do, keep them little critters cleaned off.

Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax (liquid). Goes on easy, buffs off easy, shines great, lasts a good while, and it even smells good.

Coming from FL myself, and being fully involved in the car detailing area. I would do the following.

1. Since it is brand new, I would wash your car then clay it. This will take car of the "factory fallout." Overspray, road deposits from transportation, and the time it sat in the lot.
2. Then I would use a very light "by hand” polish. I say light because since it is new
You probably won’t need anything to abrasive or that has any “cutting power.”
3. Followed by a quick detail spray to remove the dust.
4. Get yourself a good sealant (poorboys EX-P) this is necessary to keep future
bugs and contaminates from getting on your now very clean conditioned paint.
5. Then layer with your favorite wax. NXT was a good recommendation by most and also PS12 is outstanding. Along with Nattys Blue, given how deep your color is.

This is a good simple guide to getting yourself a good foundation or base. This will
also give you that deep wet look for your paint and keep it healthy.

Thanks for the info JQ. The xB came from the boat dock here in Jax, on the truck to the shop where I picked it up the next day with 2 miles on it. I will look for the sealant and spend a few days protecting the box. I want it to last and look as good as it does now.

I liked the reccomendations from the guy who mentioned the clay bar.

I've used a ton of products, and I have settled into
Mother's Reflections
hand applied, and removed with a porter cable

Wow! You wax your car every 2 weeks? I wash our cars once a week, but I usually average once every 6 weeks for a good wax on each one. I'm just too dang busy to do it more often.

Another great feature of Zaino is that each additional coat adds a layer of depth and shine. I would think using a clay bar every 6 months would remove the NTX.

Carnuba based products are great for show cars but not as good for daily drivers. I used to use Pinnacle which claims to be 30% carnuba. The stuff smelled great, went on smooth and left a great shine. 3 weeks and a car wash later the shine and beading were greatly reduced. In 2 months it was pretty much all gone.

Like I said before, the Zaino lasts and lasts.

Sorry to be such a Zaino hound but the stuff is THAT good.

OK, don't want to sound dumb, but where do you get a clay bar and just what is it? Who makes it and where are they available. I do not recall seeing something like that in the car detail section.
