Here is a good link that explains the "how/when/why's" of using a clay bar.
Good info about how it works and how to apply.

Also ....
I agree with those that have suggested Meguiars NXT products -- I use just about their entire line.
(they make a clay bar as well)
Here is Meguiars site that shows all their products line .... and has a couple of tutorials about when to use which product and how.

Mothers or Mequires clay bars and spray detailer, I just started to use the Black Magic Liguid wax, I have to say it really did a great job. So far it is by far the highest gloss I have had out of a wax. Seems to last a while too.

What they did was take a good condition hood from a junkyard and section it off and treat each inavidual section. After 6 month only the Zaino held its shine and was still beading water.
Any product will work at first and look good. I have never used anything that lasts as long as Zaino and holds an awesome shine.
how about any DuPont products ? They're probably hard to come by, but I will probably try DuPont waxes if i find any, since they're in the materials business and all .... and some of my friends swear by them also.
Great information on how to wax my car and I'm ready to go buy all the supplies, but it raised a question... what do I wash it with? My first thought was joy dish soap and water but my guess is that is making half of you laugh and the other half shudder.

Read the "Tips & Tricks" on the Zaino site even if you decide to buy something else (which is a BIG mistake!).

I been using kit wax for over 20 years goes on easy and comes off easy and shines really good. I tried almost every wax out there over the past 30 years and this work the best for me. And it's only like 3 bucks a can. The one the costs the most isn't always the best. Autozone has it try it out it's only 3 bucks, use can wax your car every weekend like me since it's so cheap. Plus your arm isn't going to fall off when you take off the wax.
