wetsanding isnt what brings the shine to a clearcoat. POLISH is what does it

the reason for wetsanding a clearcoat is to remove small dirt and remove some of the "orange peel " look....so that once its polished it refelcts better since the orange peel is less noticable.

when we wetsand and polish a car at out shop we usually cutt the car down with 800 grit then 1000 then 1500 then 2000 then we do a 3 step polish with a buffer(not the orbital kinda you buy at pep boys)

we use a cutting compond to bring back some of the shine. next we use a less gritty sompound to bring it back more and finnally we use a non grit polish to really make it nice followed up with a hand wax. this is what makes cleacoated parts shine.
