Default Will goo-gone hurt my clear?

So long story. I happened to step on gum and I got into my car. The gum smeared all over my side skirts.

I was wondering when I used goo gone to remove the gum, " Will this hurt my clear coat?"

My car is waxed just last week. What do you guys think?

If it is on the exterior part of your side skirt, I wouldn't recommend it. But if its inside, where the door sill is, I would use it, but very lightly rub on the gum (avoid touching your finish with the goo gone). I have tried to use Goo gone to remove paint and it doesn't work well at all, doesn't seem to be strong enough to remove paint. If you do decide to use it, just be extra careful, try to avoid hitting your finish with the goo gone, use as little as possible, and wash with car soap and water right away. Goo gone contains petroleum distillates... in the owners manual they inform you that gasoline can damage your finish.

Also, I've heard that they made bug and tar remover for cars... could help with removing gum but I know for a fact that the goo gone will take it right off. Maybe you should try using peanut butter..?..
