best hip hop artist
IMHO...Trying to nail down who is the best hip-hop artist or any artist for that matter is like trying to choose the opinion of someone else for your own...
I personally am not a Weezy fan...now I will say I haven't heard a whole lot of his music but I've heard enough to know that I can't understand what he says most of the time (not because i'm listening to slow or cuz he's speaking real gangsta ish) it's because he doesn't articulate his words well...that's just my opinion...now I have dawned my flame retardent suit and am ready to get flamed cuz I'm not a Lil' Wayne fan

Cham, Paul Wall, Slimm Thugga are ok, but they can't hold a candle to the old SUC people - Keke, Pat, ESG etc.

And as far as for Weezy...I'll give him props....I just thinks it's lame when he talks about slanging dis and dat when the only reason he knows anything about it is cause of his pops......I doubt hes ever worked the grind

-ATL (Ludacris, DSGB, Lil Jon & the BME click, Lil Scrappy)
-the 305--(Pittbull, Pastor Troy, Rick Ross)
Pastor Troy is DSGB!
My bad. I suck at life.
As for the Lil Scrappy thing, it wasnt to say he was awesome or anything, i was just sayin thats where he was from.
Also to the guy who was talking about K-Rino or whatever, ill have to check him out. I guess the furthest underground H-town i go is Z-ro, and Trae...which i guess neither one is really underground now. The SUC was a little before my time, i've never really listened to any of their cd's....

On that list, I would have go with Gangstar first then Biggie. (DWYCK!)
Some of my all time favs... (in no particular order)
A Tribe Called Quest "The Low-End Theory"
House Of Pain "Same As It Ever Was"
Public Enemy "It Takes a Nation..."
Eric B. & Rakim "Paid In Full"
Nas "Illmatic"
Dr. Dre "The Chronic"
The Wu "Enter The Wu-Tang..."
Jay-Z "Vol 2, Hard Knock Life"
The Beatnuts "Intoxicated Demons"
OutKast "ATLiens"
Plus too many others to list. Some of my new favs are...
Swollen Members "Black Magic"
Jedi Mind Tricks - Trust me! They're all good CDs!
J-Dilla
Madvillain
Ugly Duckling
Dilated Peoples, etc and so on...
Underground is where it's at now. All that 'mainstream' (c)rap you hear on the radio? That's stricly for the $crill. Not for the LOVE of hip hop like the Underground scene.

Z-Ro, Trae and Guerilla Maab aren't SPC. They have done songs with them though.
Check out the old ESG stuff ("Ocean of Funk", "Sailin' The South") and old Keke ("Don't Mess With Texas", "It's Was All A Dream"). Fat Pat "Ghetto Dreams"
"Thought of Many Ways" by the Botany Boys is personal classic, so is the DEA album.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned 8Ball & MJG yet.
My top albums list is something like: (in no particular order)
Wu Tang - Enter the 36
GZA - Liquid Swords
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
Ghostface - Ironman
Wu Tang Forever
UGK - Ridin' Dirty
Illmatic
Ready to Die
UGK - Supertight
Mobb Deep - Hell on Earth and the Infamous
Ball & G - In My Lifetime Looking Vol. 1 and On the Outside Looking In
All Eyez On Me
I could probably list a couple more but I will stop.

K-Rino drafted them.....as part of the clic. Them two are some of the only artist out the H to reconize who was firts in the H-town rap game, but they have their own clics like Maab and ABN.
Youlisted acouple of UGK's albums...but dont forget about Their album To Hard to Swallow
