Default Buying a car out of state.

I wasn't really quite sure where to put this so i figured the off topic section would be good. As a few already know thanks to Fabian, I'm trying to sell my tC and get my hands on a new MS3. Right now I'm considering selling it to a dealership down in Daytona Beach assuming they give me a good price. Now here's my question. I wanna buy the car in FL, however have it be registered in NY so that I could have it be in my parents name and not be boned by insurance. If I buy it in FL, am I gonna have to drive my new MS3 to NY to get it inspected? or are they just gonna assume that it's good considering that it's a new car?

Don't think it will need inspection new, it should be certified from the dealer. I bought my car through online and phone conversations from Michigan, delivered to my door in Maryland without going through any MD dealers. As long as the owner is a NY resident (your partents I assume) it shouldn't be an issue. The process should just be paperwork.

The bigger question is do your parents want to be liable for your vehicle since it's in their name. Also, I'm not sure if you can take a loan for it or if they would need to be on the loan paperwork.

Word. Well the MS3 would be the same deal as my tC. Meaning they would put it in their name and the loan would be in their name but I sign the checks when the bill comes. So technically yeah my parents would be buying it. So it really wouldn't make a difference if I buy it in NY or if I buy it in FL right? I would just need to get plates sent down or would the dealership take care of that as well. Unless I just use the plates that are on my tC.

u should might aswell use plates that r on ur tc bro jus so u dont have to go threw the hassle of all that jus transfer over ur insurance to the new car and thats it really thats what i did wit my tc. BUT if u buy it in FL ull have a FL title u would jus have to go to the dmv and jus get a NY title really.

Just have them register it to your address in Florida. Should save some on insurance, and give you local tags.

Can I have it be registered in FL and have FL plates if i have a NY license? i don't wanna get a FL license, I got a nice speeding ticket in the beginning of the year which doesn't show up on my NY license, if i get a FL license it'll gimmie points automatically on my license.

I think so. The easiest way to see about that is to ask the dealer.
