Okay, the phone is a pretty neat gadget BUT in my opinion there are a few really big downsides. One bieng having to have ATT (formally Cingular) One of the worst providers of coverage. It is also a version 1.0 and as we all know in 6 months version 2.0 will be out and probably the same price but will not have the edge network problems this phone already apparantly has. I think if this phone would have been snagged by Verizon it would be a bit of a challenge to find one where as right now they are readily available. Verizon seems to have everyone beat in coverage. (unfortuantley I am stuck with tmobile for now.) The other thing about the iPhone is the integrated battery. You can't have a spare for emergencies. If the battery dies so does your phone and you have to send it away to the techie paramedics.

Not trying to be a downer for those that got one just providing some more info. For those of you that do have them I really hope you bought the theft insurance cause this badboys are going to be dissapearing like virgins at a keg party.

Either way, looks like a cool phone just not really polished yet.

As expected, Tog has a few excellent thoughts on the iPhone human
interface, the look and feel of the product, and the network it is on...

Worth the read.

I think it's kind of ridiculous that they market it as a phone but the phone part seems to be an aside to the rest of the crap on it. I mean seriously, 600-700 dollars for a phone with half ___ call quality that you have to go through 6 submenu's just to type in the numbers to make your call?? No thanks.

The biggest problem with it, not really a problem I guess, but reason I won't be buying one in the near future is the storage capacity. If I pick this thing up and it really is the "best iPod we've ever made" as they pitch it, that's great. Let me ditch my 30GB iPod for one with widescreen and doubles as a phone, browser, etc. However, I already have more than 8GB of music alone (15-20GB) and to add on top of that the stand-up videos, maybe some TV-Shows or movies... it's just not big enough yet.

If they come out with a 60GB+ iPhone, I'm sold.

i love the phone - i just wish it had ichat built in

also - is there any way of insuring it? like through a third party or something? It makes me nervous knowing that I walk around with a $600 phone in my pocket.

Did you guys heard about a woman in burbank who pay a guy $800.00 to buy his place in front of the line to buy all the Iphones from the store and sell them on ebay. but store had a policy of only one phone per customer. so she pay 1400.00 for one phone and the guy still was able to get back in line to buy one so he got for free plus 200.00 for him.

Many of us at work have company provided phones, and we got these as replacements (4 gig).

But I miss my old phone (Sony Ericsson W600i)

Most insurance companies can put it on your homeowners or renters insurance, with a small (like $50) deductible.

3 reasons why I WON'T get one.
1. AT&T
2. No AOL Instant Messenger
3. AT&T

Besides I have a 30GB iPod and a Sidekick 3 so I'm all good.

Thats what the local AT&T store said. I have not verified yet. I need to do that soon.
