Yeah, the 2F engine was pretty much a 4.2 liter tractor engine. The 6 cylinder gas engine produced 135HP @3600RPM and 210 FT LB torque @1800. Add in something like an 8:1 first gear, a 2:1 reduction transfer case, and a 4.21 rear end and you could put the front bumper up against the side of a solid building, put it in compound low and it would sit there with all four big tires turning on dry concrete as it ground them down. One of the few things that could stop it was running out of gas.
"Built like a bridge girder, reliable as an anvil."

I do not recall ever seeing one small piece of sound deadening anywhere on that vehicle. It was all painted steel, interior had rubber floor mats (and could actually be cleaned with no problems using a garden hose - pretty much everything either didn't care or was weather tight, probably because of the removable hardtop).
There were no 42 layers of interlocking plastic to get to the one screw holding something in, everything was exposed screws, nuts, and bolts and you could take it apart and put it together in the field. In fact it came with a great tool kit.
Even the dash panel just had two big screws...
