Speaking of fail, im about ready for my oil change lately.. so I checked my oil today and after letting the engine cool down like youre supposed to, I checked my oil level.


I was half a quart low. No, that isnt my issue.


I went to 3 different places to find royal purple 5-30, and couldnt find it. So I had to get castrol edge, LOL. Mixing/matching oil FTW!

I kept it the same viscosity & synthetic, but i'm not sure if mixing brands is a bad idea. It was the most expensive too, I played the "get what you pay for" card. $7.75 for a quart. I figured putting good expensive oil was better than adding water to bring the level back up.

 

nevermind, I researched briefly and it turns out mixing brands is perfectly fine, even mixing viscosities. Not sure id do that myself, but good to know.

I wonder how good castrol EDGE is. It isnt purple, which is ultimately why I even bothered to buy royal purple anyway.

This is why I run synthetic blen in everything I own... so that if Im low, I dont have to worry about buying a different colored oil

 

But if it isnt purple, it isnt awesome. I like my fluids to be colorful, just cause I can.

Purple engine oil, red trans fluid, pink coolant. Win.

I changed my oil using royal purple @ like 41k and now at 45k it isnt purple anymore, but its golden colored like normal oil.
