Why has the trend become totally re-bodying the RX-7? For the longest time I'd look at Import magazines and not know what these things were. I thought they were a variant of the Tommy Kaira ZZ-II or something (go Gran Turismo!). It's not a bad look, but the RX-7 doesn't look bad stock either.

veilside does the fortune kit to a lot of cars. supra, rx7, etc. its veilsides "wild" setups as if the regular kits werent enough. i love the classic lines of the fd rx7 myself but can appreciate the thought and work that went into building this rx7.

Finally got around to seeing this.

DID NOT LIKE:
THE WOMEN: all of the women in the movie save for the Japanese tuner girl were busted. The main girl was OK......but all of the extras were absolutely horrible, or had so much make-up on that they looked like mannequins.

THE CG: talk about a high school project gone wrong. Why did they have to make CG for an intersection which has several hundred people crossing every light change?

THE EVO: Nice car, but trying to drift in an AWD car is teh hurt.

THE DRIFT: because we all know that when being followed, the fastest way down a straightaway is to drift left and right.

THE TOUGE: That one just seemed all wrong- it LOOKED like two professional stunt drivers TRYING to look like a japanese style drifter battle. Here's a clue guys- go buy a few Option videos, and take a clue from the real masters: the Japanese drivers.

Overall it WAS enjoyable, but there were a lot of things that I just say to say:
(cue Kevin Spacey voice)
WROOOOOONG!!!

They didn't mention anything about that in the movie at all, so it gives the uninformed the impression that the Evo is a drift machine, when it isn't.

So using a kit developed by Rhys Millen Racing (RMR), eight of the 10 brand-new Japanese-market Evo IXs donated to the Tokyo Drift production by Mitsubishi were converted to rear-drive drift cars by replacing the differential's output assembly with one that leaves out the splines to drive the front wheels and capping the output holes in the transfer case. The stock transverse-mounted six-speed transmission is left alone, as is the rest of the drivetrain.
