hers my opinion.

keep your PS2 if you decide to trade it for a PS3, the new ones wont have backwards compatability. this is to cut cost.

the 360 is good too but they have a high failure rat from what i read in the mags.

now the Wii. i LOVE my Wii. best system i ever got. but it sucks for driving games except mario Kart Wii and only good sports game is the tiger woods na dthe Wii sports it comes with.

i was born and raised on nintendo so you gotta excuse me :-P

do you have a high def TV? the PS3 is my pick for the Blu-Ray player. its an amazing picture. HD DVD will be phased out soon so the 360 will still be another big DVD player

for multiplayer, gamning, online, and stuff like that the 360 is golden

for Gran Turismo 5 and the Blu-Ray then the PS3 hs good

id go 360 man

Uh... the PS3's DO have backwards compatibility but it is limited due to the software they're running. My PS3 has the hardware emulator which has a higher rate of a PS2 game working. I think WikiPedia has a list of which PS3 versions have the better chances of backwards compatibility.

I'm a Playstation fan even though its a Sony product and the games I have for my PS3 are wonderful!

However, there ARE more games released and soon to be released for the Xbox 360 which ticks me off a bit since I want more games on my PS3 lol. Though most of the games on the 360 aren't my kind of game anyways Oh and the online gaming for the 360 definitely kicks the PS3s butt, however I don't do much of online game playing.

If you think about it, Blu-Ray is the future of DVDs so getting a PS3 will get you a gaming console AND a Blu-Ray player for the price of a regular Blu-Ray player.

So if anything, take a look at which console has the better assortment of games that you'd be playing and go from there.

As far as the Wii goes... its a party console meant for more than just one player honestly. I'm glad I didn't buy it last year when I had the chance. Plus it ____es me off that there are some games for the Wii (mostly DS though) that are repackaged and sold as "newer" games with not so good graphics.

The Wii isn't very fun when you're sober and by yourself. The only way it's comparable to the other two is when you have friends over, and it only becomes better than the other two if everyone's been drinking. This has been scientifically proven.

If you like paying a little more for your games, and your friends think your house smells so they never come over, get the 360. It has the best online support, and the games are pretty great, but I find a lot of games don't like when you want to play with people in the same room.

If you like paying a lot more for your games and your console, and words like "Blu-Ray" mean anything to you, get the PS3. However, if you're the sort of person who can tell the difference between Blu-Ray and DVD, you probably don't have any friends... so this console suits you just fine, because the PS3's online system is notoriously garbage.

I was a big time PC gamer. Still am. I'm one of those people who always goes and gets the latest and greatest upgrades when they come out and are way overpriced. I just love PC gaming.

Lately? All I've been playing is the 360. CoD4, Lost Odyssey, Fable II, soon to be CoD:WaW. Sure I miss the mouse and keyboard, but the 360 has been (knock on wood) very stable. One time I played for over 8 hours and it never hiccuped. I've heard that the new ones don't have the problems of the originals... I'm fairly sure mine is one of the newer ones, as it's the green Halo 3 model. It is so much cheaper than PC gaming it's ridiculous. No more staying ahead of the curve. And games look incredible on an HD set.

The PS3 just seems more complicated, with less games.

And I'd never have a Wii as my primary console. I have one, but the only time it ever sees action is when I want to play a round of golf and it's raining, or half time when people are over watching a game.

Gears of War was too short. When I played it I was like, "Ho hum..". Even mutiplayer felt that way.
Kind of like all the hype of the first Xbox and Halo. This time I'm glad I didn't plunk down some chedda
on a 360. (Thank God.)
This is why PSN blows. I'm glad the 360 has a pay service for online, the server NEVER lag and are NEVER down. I have a feeling that R2 will NEVER be able to handle 60v60 online with the current servers and network.
Agreed about the PSN I would gladly pay if it means servers are going to be upgraded and games will run almost perfectly from day 1 like 360 does!

like the saying goes.. you get what you pay for...

360 all day long, ftw!

ive even had the dreaded red ring o death. took about a week and i had my box back and runnin like a champ ever since. i had it for over 2 years before it ever did that. no problems otherwise. there is a 3 yr warranty for the ring of death and a 2 year for everything else.

Xbox overall has better games i think. Plus the xbox live arcade where you can download old school games from nintendo (plus new versions of them), old xbox and sega games as well. Plus demos for upcoming games.

And the controller is better too.

As far as blue ray dvd player goes from what i heard, the future xbox systems are supposed to have it. But honestly, your buyin a video game system, look at the games, the system and what appeals to you. Dont let a dvd player that can be bought for a couple hundred bucks otherwise be your deciding factor in buying a game console.

I personally think playstation is junk and i havent liked it since ps1, driver was the greatest game ever lol!

The weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee shouldnt even be included in this debate, its fun (like mentioned before when drinking) but sober not so much. I quit drinking so its out of the question for me. But it is fun. Not a good system to start little kids on tho, after playing wii and going to 360 my nephew tried to use the controller like it was a wii. Best to get the concept for regular gaming then switch them to the wii i think.

Good luck with your purchase and if you get an xbox feel free to add me. Same name as my user on here.

you should decide according to what exclusive games you want to play. i own both, but I got a 360 2 years ago for just for Gears of War. my friend got a PS3 because of Blu-Ray and he's waiting for final fantasy 12 (although its coming out on both now) and God of War 3. Gears of War 1 and 2 are the only 360 games I have. whenever a game comes out on both systems, I get the PS3 version.

360's also tend to have high failure rates. people are complaining about Gears of War 2 not working on certain new 360s (disc read errors). people suspect the problem depends on which dvd-rom drive is in their 360 (lite-on, samsung, etc).

And that is exactly why the LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2 servers are constantly riddled with lag and down time.

Besides, there is nothing on the PS3 that comes close to being as awesome as Gears 2.

Depends on your needs. If all you want it for is games, hit up the 360. If you want a sleek good looking wifi entertainment system, get the PS3.

i got the PS3 for certain games that had already came out and still are in the marking as well, plus free online playing and that is probably about it for me because i don't use the wifi nor the blue-ray. i would of gotten xbox360 because more friends have it and i like how you can download movies, tv shows, etc.....through the xboxlive but i don't like how it heats up and then the ring of death shows up after a while but it's good that microsoft offered that 3 year warranty for the ring of death. Sony has something similiar to where if your PS3 won't play any games because it got over heated then they warranty it as well. all in all both have their pros and cons, you just need to look at what games you like and will be playing the most and on what system they will come out.

A bunch of Xbox execs have come out and said that the Xbox will not have Blu-Ray. Ever. End of Story.

Xbox and Microsoft are positioning themselves to make the jump over Blu-Ray and into streaming / downloadable video. IMO and many, many others, Blu-ray is never going to be the next VHS or DVD, just a temporary filler.

Plus, I'd never use a gaming console as a primary video player.

That being said, pick which ever system has the games you'd like better. That's the important part of gaming after all, the games.

My 2cents.

I also have all three systems.

- The xbox see's the most play due to online gaming. COD4 manly.

- The PS3 is great due to the blue-ray and some games but I have to agree that the xbox does win on this level.

- The Wii I have to agree, never gets played unless my daughter is playing or there are people over, but that is what I brought it for

I have to agree it really depends on what your looking for and what games.

I know you have had both, but talk about bias. Personally, I hate the PS2 / PS3 controllers because the shoulder buttons are at right angles to the side, do any shooting with them and my hands cramp up. Also, name me one game that uses six axis well? I don't know where you get your information, XBox has bluetooth, comes with a wired ethernet port so you can still have internet, the new wireless controllers are smaller and lighter, and the red ring is no longer an issue with the Falcon chipset in newer models. Also, Xbox Live silver is free for downloading patches and demos and getting email and chat. Yes, you do need to pay to play online multiplayer, but it's well worth it for decent, reliable and low lag servers. Also, Microsoft has achievement inclusion manditory in their games, for PS3 it's voluntary by publisher.

For online, what does Sony have Right Now? Home doesn't count until it's actually released.

I used to have a Wii. it was great for Mario Galaxy, Zelda, and Metroid. However, once I got through Nintendo's A line-up, there was nothing else that wasn't a stupid party game or bad PS2 port. I sold it a few months ago and was asking the same question you are now. I ended up going with an XBox 360, here is why:

- A lot of Scikotics are on Call of Duty 4 on XBox 360
- November 19 they will release the patch that partners with Netflix, allowing free download of their movies provided you have an XBox Live gold account and a netflix account.
- Price, I bought a new XBox arcade edition for $200, and spent another $30 for a hard drive on eBay. It comes with the new, smaller wireless controller. For a headset, I simply use the one I already had for my cordless phone. Any 2.5mm headset will work, you do not need the Microsoft one.
- XBox Live is hands down the best onling gaming experience. You get email and voice messaging with your profile, can download demos before deciding to buy, allows all games to have voice chat and a reliable server experience with no extra online fee per game.
- Fable II

Bottom line is XBox 360 has a much cheaper up front cost and better online gaming with the same graphics quality and most of the same games as the PS3, plus a larger library of other games and backwards compatability with most XBox1 games.

If you're into Final Fantasy, obscure RPG's in general, or need a Blue Ray player, get a PS3. It's actually the cheapest and best quality blue ray player on the market currently. However, with Forza 2, GRID, Need For Speed, etc on XBox Playstation is no longer the only system for racing and in my opinion superior for general gaming due to the lower price and better online support. The $170 price difference will buy you 3 1/2 years of XBox Live Gold, so you can't really complain about a paid online service making it more expensive.

Edit: I don't really care about Gears or Halo, and am a bit jealous of Little Big Planet. I'm happy though Bioshock is out for XBox, I couldn't play it on the PC because my system wouldn't handle it well.

Actually, the PS3 doesn't have a single RPG on it right now. The 360 is this gen's RPG console.

i'd go for 360 because of live and halo/gears. I never thought of getting a PS3, but the blu ray and Little Big Planet are tempting. Overall, i would go 360. Cheaper too!
