You can keep living a life based off beliefs that were meant to control people, I'll live a free life.
Just think of Scientology. It's the same thing as Christianity, and it's the most mocked religion/cult in existence. Nothing more than a bunch of made up mumbo-jumbo, in order to control society. That is all religion is.
Maggots eating my corpse isn't how i'd like to picture it. Therefore, hokey-pokey myth religions is where i'll start in my process to ready myself for death.
In short, making fun of faith is a pretty big butthole thing to do. Yet another post I see by you that truely bothers me. Your style of expressing your opinion (over the net i'm sure is much different) is the reason why 99% of internet forums won't allow political and religious discussions.
Drown yourself in a bathroom sink, save the air for someone who has some values.

Also, I'm not making fun of faith. I'm making fun of religions and cults.
If you really want me to be a douche, I'll go into the fact that there is ZERO evidence that Jesus even exists. The first time he is mentioned is in the Gospels, which comes nearly 200 years after his 'death'.
Religion was instilled to prevent people from asking about where we came from and why we exist. Christianity was brought on to give hope to slaves. The basic message was, "this life blows, the afterlife will be better, so worship God." I can guarantee that if we stop teaching children religion at the age of 3-7, and told them about it at the age of 18, at least 95% of them will think it's crazy and a total lie. Just think about the fact that the people who first believed in Christianity, were uneducated slaves. People who had NOTHING to look forward to. It's 2008. You're educated. You're not a slave (well, not 'technically'). You have another 60+ years to live, I suggest you start living a happy life instead of fearing the inevitable, because you WILL die.
Also as a side note, the world would be better off WITHOUT religion. Granted, we would still have similar complex's, but at least it would be simpler. No questions over who worships the right 'god', no questions over who has the right story. We would be able to make unquestionable advancements in science and actually start making progress to finding other life, finding out where we came from and making life better.
rcz - wayyyy too serious.
and everyone else...stop quoting within quoting within quoting blocks...my internets is hard enough to read as it is.

Wow guys...breathe geez...look I think we can all agree that when it comes to intellectual prowess, actual knowledge and lets face it...the ability to process a response at a 4th grade level Palin and Bush seem like two peas in a pod.
If you argue that...I have a ton of links to her interviews......remember that pageant queen that was asked a question and her response had nothing to do with the question.
You know ...it was similar to asking "What color is the sky" and the reponse was "4".....
Ahhh good times the question is simply...will she step down as the vp nominee before Biden chews her up on Friday or before?

I'm glad I will not offer my views on politics....you guys would rake me through the coals.....then pour gas on me and do it again. Wow. ha
As for Palin, I was pullin' for her until I saw her interview with Couric. As a country we are doomed if she becomes VP and heaven forbid "president". But I'd hit it...and hit it often as long as she doesn't talk! haha

Does anyone else notice that she answers questions EXACTLY how women do in beauty pageants? I know she was in one a while back, but holy crap, it's like I'm watching some random ***** babble on about absolutely nothing.

I find it ironic that people who were raised as a 'by the book' Christian tend to be truly mean individuals. It's not 100% of em, of course, but a lot of the major a-holes that I have met always go to Church on Sunday.
I haven't finished reading this thread yet, but after seeing Palin stumble through every single public appearance she has made (3, I think?) I'm astonished that the McCain campaign hasn't pulled her off the ticket, which of course, would make the admission that McCain made a mistake; that'll never happen.
I am certainly excited to see what happens on Friday.

burstaneurysm, I am not a christian at all, I have no idea what I am. In my last post if you read it you notice me saying I am looking for something to believe in. Haven't found it yet.
I've only been to church a few times and there are genuine people there that keep me going back and it calms me to see there are other people with problems and have SOMETHING (or some one) to help them in the process of getting through life.
Just pinched a nerve to have someone make fun of such a thing.
Thats all.

Wow for all the religion bashing here you guys must not go to church or temple often or at all... Your narrow minded views on how evil religions are is funny... 10 commandemtnseem preety evil to me... Love your neighbor??? that is bad too... What is preached and what happens are can be two differnt things to SOME people, BUT by and large Christian do contribute to the world in a positive way and are good people... I can not speak for other religions though...

They're supposed to be based on faith and a way to help you through your day and through troubled times. That's great! That's empowering and uplifting to yourself, and sets an example for others to follow. My neighbors were a good example of this. They're a wonderful Christian family, and never once pressured me or made me feel less of a person because I didn't go to church every Sunday like they did. If I ever have a family, I'd like it to be as respectable as theirs.
They are NOT supposed to be "proven" or "fact" or the "end-all" for discussion, nor are they supposed to be taken literally. They aren't supposed to be oppressing (to yourself or others) or taken so seriously that you have no sense of self anymore. I was pressured by my now-ex girlfriend to go to her "non-denominational" church, where the pastor spent a good portion of a half hour preaching "to no specific person" about the values of being saved by Jesus and then I had a nice discussion with her about how I'm going to hell. This is NOT constructive and NOT okay.
Playing Devil's Advocate for a second... yeah, Christians always contribute in a positive way. Vandalizing Planned Parenthood's, passing anti-GLBT legislation... going back a bit further, the Crusades... yeah, really contributing to humanity. They aren't the only offenders by any means; any religion that carries out actions "in the name of x" that actually goes against it's core tenants (love thy neighbor... unless they're ___ or get an abortion or aren't Christian) or is a detriment to humanity (kill the infidels) is at fault here.
/Unitarian. I love my religion.

Ahh, the topic at hand. So that massive bailout failed. Guess why?

And where does Sarah Palin (you know, the thread topic) fit into all of this? She's going to get McCain's policy wrong, plain and simple. Palin's weakness is direct questions, and you better believe that Biden is going to ride her like a sexist comment that's too easy to make. She's going to screw up, and it's going to be plastered all over YouTube. The end.
^ you have very vaild points, but ur example of hateful Christians is only .01% of them... You lump us all together and tear it all down instead of using your good neighbors who are way more representitive of the Christian beliefs and values...
It is kind of the same as people tearing down the whole muslim religion because of a few extremists... I dont blame the whole group for a few misguided people...
The same can be said about our "two-party" system... Both have valid claims, but both are flawed in big ways two... As i read this thread i can undestand both sides wanting this country to be better, BUT as long as we fight each other nothing will get done... vote for whoever you want..
At the end of the day you will still go to work and live your life... no matter who is in office...
