I saw that posted on that other website about a month ago.

It's hard to change old ways. It's great that the kids were able to look past color and do something together.

Yea i 've heard about the segregated proms , some other school stopped doing it a year or two back and it was headlines then as well.

Yeah, something's not right there. I realize that it's in the south, but I grew up in South Carolina and we had "mixed proms" back as far as I can remember (at least the '70s). I was blown away to see that there are still schools that have segregated proms.

 

i thought the 'black and white' thing was over? guess they do it differently down south.

 

Wow! growing up in the northwest you don't see that at all.

 

Trust me, growing up in most of the south you don't see that kind of stupidity either.


I used to be a terrible racist, something I am not proud of, but stuff like this really saddens me.

 

^^Most people are a product of their surroundings, and if you grow up in that you don't know any better. It's what you do when you are grown that makes the difference!
