Maybe we're just a virus that the planet is trying to deal with?

Most people agree with you today. 10 years ago a lot of people were being called crackpots because they were trying to warning us.

The guy at NASA still has to get anything he says cleared by the Whitehouse because of their stance on global warming. Remember Bush withdrew the United States from participation in the Kyoto Protocol for reducing greenhouse gases world-wide.

2004 looks so much more appealing

2 words: Nuclear Winter! Just kidding. There aren't enough educated people out there to care. Its sad the that media has to scare everyone into a panic. (Y2K) . Education is a major issue. Also everywhere without emissions and inspection regulations. Also we have to look at how the industries and commercial businesses are affecting the environment. Getting them to cut back will also help. I think most of the worlds oxygen is produced by alge and other seabased plants. We really need to watch how over fishing and such, affects those ecosystems that produce the oxygen by absorbing/digesting the CO2. I don't know nearly as much as I would about the issue to continue wisely. But this winter makes me want warmer weather so maybe this is a good thing. HAHA Sorry for those who live within 20 vertical feet of the sea.

So, you have an exit strategy?

But, if you read the story, we're beginning to accelerate into the effects of global warming.

Yes, I do.... I'll be taken care of as the Lord sees fit. "...for those who believe in him will not perish, but have everlasting life." I think the earth will end in a firey demise "caused" by global warming shortly after the rapture...

There's no counter for that answer!

Interesting theory. You could be right....global warming could be tied to the rapture and the end of days. But then again, if it's not, it means that we will be here....living amongst all of the crazy weather and natural disasters. Not cool.

In any situation, may God be my shepard and direct me to the shelter needed.... I trust that all things happen for a reason... even if it's my own family having their houses ripped apart in strange occurances of natural disaster...

whoa, that guy actually sounds serious.

We can do all we want in the US, but China is going to make up for whatever we cut with more cars and more coal power.

I think it is important to approach this topic with a certain ammount of academics.

Of course the world is warming up. If you examine geological records the world has experianced cycles of ice age to hot age back to ice age. Its a natural progression.

However, it is correct that we may be unnaturally "speeding up" a natural process. Data would suggest this.

Is this bad? Is this Good? Well, if you look at it as the poop hits the fan reguardless of our presence or not, there is nothing we can do with our current tech to 'prevent' global warming and cooling.

Its going to happen sooner or later, we as a species will either adapt or die, like every other species.

He is serious. The Bible tells us about those events. Many of us on here believe the Bible to be God's word and, as such, accurate.

You are 100% correct. I was watching a show on China's industrial growth. That's some scary stuff. They will pass the US in pollution output in no time.

And just out of curiosity, who measured the carbon dioxide PPM during the ice age?

Yeah... lot's of people are. I just can't use that as a reason not to try. I think, with free agency, we have a responsibility to always do our best to make wrongs right and to do the right thing.

Funny thing about China. They signed AND ratified the Kyoto Protocol on reduction of greenhouse gases. Bush rejected ratification, instead he talka about developing different answers through new technologies.

Still waiting on the new tech stuff.

Well said. I agree. Just because it's possible that this could all be part of God's plan, doesn't mean that we shouldn't care about the enironment and do our part. I feel that God gave us this planet as a home and to trash it is a sin.

Sometimes there are many parts to those "agreements" that aren't visible on the surface. Besides, as you just pointed out, China did sign it. They will be spueing out tons of toxic emissions real soon.

even so, the rapture could be tomorrow, it could be in 200 years....

We still have an obligation to protect the planet for future generations......despite what some people in the religious right/Bush administration believe.

It is obvious there is some sort of climate change going on...man made or not, it makes sense to err on the side of caution. Not to mention the numerous other positive effects of being environmentally conscious.
