Why are kids (south of 21) so stupid when it comes to cars?

One of them was leaking NOS... probably lucky they didn't blow up and kill everyone.

That's another thing I don't understand too... there will always be people that street race, no matter how stupid it is and how many people it kills. But why would you do it with a car full of people?! If you want to be retarded and try to kill yourself, don't take others with you.

Not to mention the added weight of the extra people in the car! I kid...

Srsly though... what morons.

LOL ^^^ totally agree. It ____es me off how people can't control their cars and as a result they kill innnocent people... I hate people that race... I see it all the time... I mean, i drive rather fast at times (up to 75 on highways) but im not NOSing it, or competing with someone or dodging in and out - i simply drive fast on straight aways... I never drift or try to do burnouts, etc.

Why do people think they are racers? I honestly don't think it's movies because I saw FNF parts 1 and 2 but you didn't see me drifting out of the parking lot afterwards. lololol

I don't think it's the movies either.

So many of these kids just think they're total badasses. Not even just with cars and being racers... they just overall think they're the ____ or something. They all need to be beat down a couple pegs if you ask me.

Ya, it's just unfortunate for the others involved that it takes something like this to open some of their damned eyes.

But then you still have the people who are like "that'll never happen to me, that was probably some stupid kid. i'm better than that. i'll keep racing."

Tell you what, if you're reading this thread thinking that, you're a stupid kid too.

I'm all for natural selection, really. It just sucks when others end up going along.

You can't teach them. This is nature. It's like the gazelles crossing the crocodile infested river. Some of them just won't make it. Did you listen to the old people back then? I didn't. Dodged a few crocs though.

Chalk it up to Lack of Experience, eduacation, trying to impress, lack of other options, and everything else that people blame for these accidents.

Since I fall in to that category, I'll try my best to answer.

The biggest thing is that most people in that age group don't pay for their vehicle, their parents do. Until they have their name attached to the title of a vehicle they will never completely respect their privelege to drive.

For the most part they don't pay for their own insurance and don't have to worry about being dropped and/or paying out the a$$ each month for a service that is generally cheap (I've been the stupid one in this situation. my 6 month premium just decreased by $1,000 and is STILL over $1,000...yeah do that math)

As long as the parents keep babying and supporting the privelege to drive even though it is not always deserved, we'll keep reading news reports like this. I am going to make my kids buy their own car, and pay their own insurance...just like I had to do. Working part time during school was nothing and it got the bills paid. If my kids argue that they need to focus more on their academics and they don't have time to work then I'll be happy to buy them a bicycle, and maybe a helmet

that's my 2 cents.

^ very good point. you are definitely more serious at something (driving, going to college, etc) when the money comes out of your own pocket.

well, it says there was nitrous oxide yet they do not believe they were drag racing?

i mean, hell, what if something like a stray dog leaped infront of the cars and they lost control trying to avoid it?

or hell, there were alot of kids in the car, they may not of been racing, but they probably weren't paying attention, lost control for some reason and crashed.

you see civic, mustang, nitrous oxide and young kids and you draw up your own conclusions now wait for the facts.

Because the drawn up conclusions are usually right in these situations...

You can not guess what happened if you don't know something about the area. SI is infamous for drag racing - tons of straight/multi-laned streets, little street presence, rich parents buying their kids fast cars (or "semi" fast cars, etc)... i dont know for 100% sure, but i will tell you that it's almost 99% fact that they were racing.

also, the original story said that nitrous was leaking from one of the cars.
