I cant tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but they are that pink. I photographed this particular one over the others because of its vibrancy.

the lens I used is one of my better ones that has really good color saturation.
my 50mm 1.8 has the crappiest of color, out of my 3 lenses.
the 50mm lens has color issues. Its actually desaturated.

if im working with the jpeg than I use gradient map and readjust with curves to retain the most amount of information in the file.

here's my method of B&W conversion
1. Open your image
2. Add a Channel Mixer adjustment layer
3. Set to Monochrome
4. Use the following settings:
- Red: 28
- Green: 41
- Blue: 31
5. Adjust your curves, levels and brightness/contrast accordingly.

In regards to exposure in the raw "tool" I use that often its a no brainer

my lens are slow, so I usually shoot slightly underexposed to get a higher shutter speed and fix later.
