yea a lot of the animals looked sad today.
they all looked sleepy and everytime people walked up to them them turned away from us.

the giraffes and sea lions looked content though.

the orangutan and zebras were the saddest looking.

was that a knock at the colors?

I cant tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but they are that pink. I photographed this particular one over the others because of its vibrancy.

heres the unaltered JPEG only resized nothing done to it. The first version was the raw,

this is the untouched jpeg completely stock
the lens I used is one of my better ones that has really good color saturation.
my 50mm 1.8 has the crappiest of color, out of my 3 lenses.
the 50mm lens has color issues. Its actually desaturated.

make: CANON
model: EOS 50D
shutter speed: 1/160th of a second
exposure program: manual
fstop: f5.6
aperture value: f5.7
ISO speed reading 320
focal length: 300mm
flash: did not fire
metering mode: pattern

lens used: 70-300mm f4 is usm
lens hood used in conjunction with B+W multicoated UV filter.

I kill the saturation in PS raw editor via bridge so I don't lose anything but color. than touch up with curves.

if im working with the jpeg than I use gradient map and readjust with curves to retain the most amount of information in the file.

heres another pic I took today for kicks.

"got an itch?" haha

here's my method of B&W conversion

1. Open your image
2. Add a Channel Mixer adjustment layer
3. Set to Monochrome
4. Use the following settings:
- Red: 28
- Green: 41
- Blue: 31
5. Adjust your curves, levels and brightness/contrast accordingly.

the one in PS menu?

the PS menu one is horrible. Curves is way better at preserving information.

I thought he was referring to the exposure in image settings in the ps menu,
In regards to exposure in the raw "tool" I use that often its a no brainer

my lens are slow, so I usually shoot slightly underexposed to get a higher shutter speed and fix later.
