Don is using a 1ds mkII so i think he is on a 1.3 crop sensor.

Chris, i know it is the wimpier version but it's good enough for me. This lens is my outdoor lens and I am already used to using a f4 all the time anyways. ha ha

Ace, I would LOVE for us to get another stimulus check so maybe I could pick up a 580ex II flash.
1DS Mark II is full frame, but i'm shooting with a 1D Mark IIn which has a 1.3x crop factor

hey chris i was wondering about your pocket wizard...

does it would kinda like the canon infrared thing? cause i finally have some money for a 580 and i wanted a wireless transmitter for it cause i might mount the flash onto a tripod and like off to the side for shoots.. the pocket wizard works for what im trying to do right?

yes it does. it is radio instead of infrared. U could also get the Phottix Strato. it works from what Don says and it is way cheaper than pocket wizards.

and the E-TTL works? cause my understanding that the 580 can auto meter and change its own power levels for the shot. seems like a pretty useful feature till im familiar with the flash..

ettl is good for spontaneous on location shoots where setting up the flash manually and testing would take too long. ETTL is good for weddings

keep in mind the st e2 will only control 2 groups of flashes as opposed to the pocket wizards that would do more than two.

I have the st e2 and as long as the I have 580 for key and 430 for backlight, I'd only need a reflector for fill. In daylight, 2 flashes for a shoot is all you really need.

another random pic from the 24 70

Siiiiick background blur quality, the resolving power of this lens is crazy,
I can crop and small portion of an image to 4000 pixels and its still a useable image. Not only that there is a lot more black level information in shadows and such.
