since we're on the topic of flashes, to anyone that cares, I made one of these and I personally love it. I used to use just like a 3x5 note card with a rubber band but this looks quite a bit more impressive and works VERY well as giving off a nice diffuse light. Cost about 6 bucks in materials from wal-mart and maybe an hour's labor to make.

 

I can't figure out my 430ex for the life of me. Sometimes the pilot's on, sometimes its off. I put brand new batteries in it & I only shot like a 35 minute show with it so I doubt it's completely dead already.

 

yeah they are tough on batteries! but my rechargeable did a great job.. i just barely started using that flash i dont even know what those stuff on the screen means lol..

and oh cheap diffuser and stuff, there's cheap DIYs on those good for beginners!

I got my batteries for my flash at a 99 cent store. I've shot 3 all-day events and I've still got a lot of power left.

i'd do it. my olympus was 350 and everyone here hates it.

 

I don't know if people hate it, they just use something different. Almost everyone shoots either canon or Nikon in here. If you like your camera, thats all that matters really. Just ignore the haters

 

not hating it either I actually wanna see more users of other camera bodies taking great pictures.. olympus, kodak, sony and so on!!

 

Ummmm Canon ftw hahaha. JK, ya my buddy uses a Sony, i have tried it, but after using my canon i cant use anything else haha.
