DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
haha no man, i know that much
im talking about looking out for photos being posted on the web
i remember you saying something about them not really knowing your taking the pictures so could you get in trouble for doing so? I read an article in the new york times about them cracking down on a guy who was blogging from Afghanistan. I was just wondering if this could be considered the same thing.

have you been on flickr? multiple agencies in the air force now have their own flickr like air mobility command. these are the images they WANT to get out to the public. almost every base has just remade their webpages with more social networking type things going on and picture slideshows and all that jazz. the stuff highlighting the air force mission while not disclosing anything secret or confidential or anything that would jeopardize the mission in any way. they are slowly making the change realizing how social networking can help the air force mission just as much as hinder it (when done correctly).
i have photo authorization from the air force also. at one time i did not, they hired me after seeing my work.
the people blogging in afghanistan or wherever that are getting in trouble are disclosing facts and timeline events from missions that either have happened, are happening currently, or are going to happen in the future. THAT is where it becomes a problem. what i can't figure out is why you would disclose information about an upcoming mission that YOU are on and what's going to happen... like... do you want to get killed or something? i don't get that.
thanks for your vigilance though. that's good.
