oh the sacrifices people make for appearance. "gives it a bigger presence" made me lol.
i actually know a guy that bought a 70-200 2.8 because of how big it is in SIZE and was ____ed when he found out it didn't zoom as far as the ghetto 70-300mm which is much smaller.

I know what you mean tho, I was at a local camera store here and a girl was talking about "buying the 5d MKII" next week and then buying the 10-22mm EF-s not knowing it wont fit, then went on to ask the benefits of a FF and why it wouldn't fit and what the recommended. Way to do your research...lame...
Shooting with good glass and a 5d MKII today...think i'm in love...

I didn't make any sacrifices for appearance. It does add to it, the 1.8 by itself looks anemic but looks much better w/ a hood and it functions as I said to protect the (inexpensive) glass/lens and reduce sun (if nec) as it's supposed to. I purchased the 50mm 1.8 because of it's function, and at the time it was great but realized quick why it's so inexpensive and doesn't perform for my purposes, but is good for what it does. Reason people say it's the best lens for the price.
Um what part of the 50mm 1.8 doesn't perform? It's FAST, light, GREAT contrast, GREAT saturation, SUPER sharp, etc.........
Only thing it is missing is a metal mount, focus window, and a bigger MF ring. Other than that the lens has actually out performed the 1.2 L version in some areas.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XM547O/ref=oss_producti just ordered that . i will let you know how it is later.
they are all pretty much the same thing. I use a blower like pictured and a lens pen like pictured and it handles all the cleaning I need to do to my gear. I think I paid $5 for my blower and $10 for my lens pen.
