Lol no. I shot the video with a kodak zi8. Had to find out the hard way that the video sucks the digital zoom on it sucks. The video is perfect zoomed out though.

 

Oh ok. I'm gathering info as cinematography is the next realm I'm headed for.

 

all focusing is done manually on a 5d. It is a great platform and being able to change lenses is an AMAZING thing but I wouldn't buy one for cinematography. U want something with a handle and is ergonomically built for video like a Canon GL2, XL1 (which can mount an adapter to take 35mm lenses).

 

Well I'm not trying to be a pro or anything, I just want to be able to do video if I want instead of just pictures at an event or something. Stuff like this: http://www.vimeo.com/12636362

And the 5d2 would be like killing 2 birds with one stone since it has 1080p video and is full frame.

 

If I ever upgrade, It'd definitely be to Full frame and HD video.

My friend offered me my xsi back and will just take it like a man with his girl if I want otherwise hes wanted a dslr, should I take it back or put out 350 more and get a used gripped 50d with 19.5k clicks?

ya Im going to pick it up, and its 9.5K clicks, not 19. either way still good deal. I see gripped 40d going for like 50-100 less. Figured if i am getting a 40d and this 50 is gripped i might as well go for it. Super excited to pick this up, I actually got turned down for a shoot with a girl with no experience because I didn't have "pro gear" since I just had an xsi.

having second thoughts. I have until tomorrow afternoon to decide. I can take my XSI back and have money left over, I am strapped on cash this is the only reason why. I just want to research if the benefits are worth the $350 to upgrade.

it's freaking awsome! the retina display is blowing my away. never seen something like this, it's like mini HD on your phone. On a phone it's simply amazing. the style of it is just so slick, I love the sharp edges. iOS 4 is awsome, this is so fast. I'm loving every minute. the camera is pretty damn good, another camera on the front, LED flash, 720p video. It's just plain awsome!

 

Yeah the specs are def awesome but how is the reception? Not hearing very good things.

 

reception is a small issue for me. they say a software update is coming Monday and I'm getting a case, probably the bumper and they say that helped.
