Depending on how your camera handles noise, i wouldnt bump the iso past 800-1000 and i sure hope you have a fast lens that will open up to 1.4-1.8

so nothing past 800. ok awesome! im actually gonna bring my 50mm 1.8 and my 18-55.

my 50mm is manual since I have a d40 so its gonna be a bit tricky I think. any other suggestions??

Go buy a D90. Then you'll have auto focus and you'll be fine with 2400 ISO.

d90 will eventually be bought, but I just got this d40 from my girl for christmas, so im still new to all of this.

im considering ditching the 50mm and getting the 35mm 1.8 af-s lens. good move??

I'm making the change soon. You could benefit from it more than I could, because you don't have an AF motor in your body.

that's one of the main reasons im getting it and then when I do upgrade my body I can still use it. not much more expensive then the 50mm ill end up selling it for 90/100 bucks since they seem to keep there value.

Well, my thinking, 90/100 (90 divided by 100 = .9)

Just a funny. I knew what you meant.
