just asking, I'm really getting into my taking pics and working on my game, My moms BF does pro photography and he just harped on "full manual or gfto" basically, and hating that I didn't drop 3k and get every accessory possible.

Also, how are the prints from Flickr. Was thinking of getting a poster of my first picture I took, or if you guys have a better place. please don't say local because that means walgreens or drive 140 miles.

got my sb600 in the mail, i love this thing!!!! its gonna come in hand for lots of shows, and i got it for 180 from my friend at best buy

picture taken with absolutely NO light, bounced flash off ceiling, came out really good for being the first time using it.

he's a douche... you will see pros all the time shooting in priority modes. you are much more able to shift on the fly say if you're shooting still and moving subjects sporadically by using the priority modes. also if light keeps changing. don't listen to him. ask him to show you his income from photography and if it doesn't pay his mortgage each month (if he even has one) tell him to "gtfo".

i print pics from flickr all the time. ready at my local target in one hour or just have them sent to me in the mail. takes probably 3-5 days to get them. they look good to me. biggest i've printed was 8x10 and i liked it.

Hes disabled vet (epilepsy) so he just collects a check, he has a ton of gear, and shoots for some UCs and CSUs, the lakers every once in a while. I think he just runs around with his gear and trys to act like a pro, and than calls people out saying they dont know photography if they havent used a film camera, kind of acting like a camera og. I was thinking of printing a pretty good wall sized poster for my room back home, im going to use flickr and just see how that goes.

 

^^ Next time he goes out shooting go behind him and pop a paper bag while yelling "INCOMING"!

As for shooting it's your camera, your style and you make the decisions. Pro status doesn't mean jack **** unless you make an income from photography. Everyone has a different style of shooting...
