DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
The 55-250IS is very good when there is enough light. I've tried using it at basketball games at my school, and it begins to struggle indoors like that. I had to bump the ISO to 1600 to get shutter speeds good enough to get usable shots. Outdoors and such though, it's wonderful for the price and size.
I have become such a dumba** lately. I feel like such a noob, I have been totally disregarding my apeture settings
Idk why I stopped, I was always adjusting exposure and aperture and then just started leaving it F4.0, what a awefull habit.

i love the lens outdoors. its great for action shots. see my red bull shots a couple posts back. They were all done on the 55-250
AF is quick as well too
for the money you really cant get a better telephoto (for little $$)
what did you pay for yours?
I wanted this lense for a long time. Went to a well known camera store here in Abq. They were selling it for $499.99.
Went to Wal Mart Last week and saw the same lense for $250, Went last night to get it and it went up to $300. Whatever, I have the cash so why not.

28mm 2.8 is not bad, but really wasn't too impressed with it. the USM in the 1.8, makes a big difference in my opinion with the overall feel, AF performance and clunkiness that you get with some non-USM (like the 50mm 1.8 ) I would try renting one if you have a place out it AT
Thanks for the info. I'd have to rent a body too since I shoot Nikon.
I'm trying to get a feel of possible equivalents to my Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 since I'm thinking about picking up a 7D for video.
I want to sell one of my bodies and upgrade to the MKII one of these days - hopefully soon
