Whenever I do rolling shots I usually wrap the strap up around my arm. It helps keep it out of the picture and also works as added security from dropping it.

The strap was wrap around my arm twice lol. It's the excess closest to the camera that was flapping. I took the shot to see how close I was to the wheel which was pretty scary when my friend decided to air the car down a little more without me knowing.

Jasper Ash: The shutter speed was set at 1/125th at focal length of 18mm (18-55 kit lens) and a aperture of f/9.0.

yeah i see what you mean. the 50 would be my starting lens but i was going to get another when i found the right one. just didn't want to have a lens (18-55) that i wasn't going to really use lying around.

the numbers breakout is as follows:
body only: $719+$100 (nifty fifty)=$818
w/kit lens: $849+100=$949

so if it's worth it to save that $130 then that's what i was looking to do and get a better walk around lens (after more homework). but i do see some posting pics with the lit lens so wanted to pitch the idea out there.

I wish I was in Cali but the picture was taken in New Jersey heading to New York for the Liberty VIP BBQ

Here's a shot using the 50mm f/1.8

i want a canon 24-70. I'm trying to find someone to trade one for my 24-105.

And there is a REASON that the 50 1.8 is in just about every photographers bag. that should tell u something. No matter if u shoot nikon or canon or pentax (ha ha ha ha) u will find a 50mm prime in every serious photographers bag.

i use one 580ex II and two vivitar 285hv's and i love the setup. And I got a softbox and light stand for $120 that I LOVE. i use cactus v4 triggers and they work just fine. I've just gotta get a new trigger cause they leave banding on the 5d classic. Of course it is the ONLY camera it does that on. ha ha

u can get a trigger and receiver for $40. and each receiver after that isn't much. THey work VERY well for the money. No they aren't exactly PW quality but for the money and for just learning and not having paid shoots they work fine. The 285hv's are completely manual and are very cheap in price. to zoom the flash u literally have to do it by hand. it's the perfect way to learn if u ask me. Cause u pay more attention to all the settings and how it affects the photo.

What you mean by manually zooming the flash? Like cranking on a wheel?

like the head of the flash moves in and out. so u can zoom the flash to be more like a spot light for effect or to actually throw the light farther.

Cuz I got teh awesome 35mm.

But I'm going to get another 50 though, just for my film SLR. I don't know whether to get the era specific or the current version.

That's what I was thinking. However the advantage of the current version is that it will meter on my D90 as well.

Yeah but the 50 was like a 85. This is why I need a D700. One will hopefully find it's way into my bag in about 3 months.
