random question but hope some one can shine some light on it......
i have been inside of 2 stores with my camera one i was bored in line at cvs waiting to be helped and out of boredom i was just messing around taking pics of the crap in the isles around me then bam! manager shows up out of know where and tells me im not allowed to take any more photos and asked to see my photography license at this point im like wtf?
the second time was at an urban outfiters i tried this neat beanie on and asked my gf to take a pic so i can see and i had my d40 with me so she took it with that and not a moment after she handed the camera back an employee ran over and said im not allowed to shoot in the store.....
at the same time like wtf is the reason behind all this whats the difference between having my slr and taking pics of crap and the camera on every ones phones how do they just tell me i cant take pictures?

 

Simply because it's private property. I'm fairly sure they don't need a reason why because it's private property. It probably has something to do with marketing and copyrighting and things like that. They own the goods in the store and don't have to let you take photos of those items. Even if the photo is of you and not the items in the store.

 

its frustrating how intimidated people get by SLR's. you can snap a point and shoot pic with your phone or small camera and nobody cares but if it looks like a decent camera everyone goes into panic mode.

which is funny because most people that end up talking my ear off about their SLR when they see me shooting at work do not even know how to use it in any manner other than as a point and shoot.

i feel your pain.

is taking pictures for bands lucrative? what is the target audience you're hoping to have pay you for photos??

 

i'll tell you what... pitch black, dirty tempered glass windows, and iso6400 is not a pleasurable shooting environment.
