So true. I'm really conditioned to my Canon. I left mine at school on the weekend of HIN, so I was forced to use my friend's Nikon. It was a disaster. Out of 150+ photos, only 20 or so actually came out.



And yes, that big stocking is mine from when I was a little kid. lol

 

haha,last night it was really cold and and started to rain. Never did the long exposure thing so Im sure I did a lot of things wrong. But I didnt have time to get the settings right.

i have been reading online how to take pics with a dslr correct me if i am wrong, cause i want to learn as fast as possible lol.

for taking pictures at night, you want to have a high f stop with a long exposure, and for day time pictures, you want a fast shutter speed with a lower f stop?

 

Depends if your subject is moving, really...

Go check out "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. Great book to learn from. He explains things very well, and it's not difficult to comprehend either. I still have it here right now. It was due back 2 days ago, but I'm hogging it for another few weeks to refer to. Lol. Thank goodness for renewals at the library! Haha.

 

Photo.net has a good guide to learning to shoot with a dslr and a lot of other camera basics. Check it out. It split into different sections too.

 

I got an SB400 flash for my D40, i think my GF got me the 50mm f/1.8? ill post back later when i open her gifts.
