competition cars are usually tuned higher which is also usually the resonant frequency of the vehicle. The tuning frequency that competitors generally use is around 60Hz, about double what my enclosure is tuned at.
The higher the frequency the easier it is to reproduce and less power it consumes to reproduce. A lower frequency is much harder to reproduce because it has longer pulses and requires more power so your amplifier works harder. You will never see anyone competing with a sub tuned at 20Hz which is inaudible and the lowest of the sound spectrum.
