Default tc tire is f*****

Pop was the sound i heard when a 4" piece of metal destroyed my 2 week old tcs tire, dam i thought. Oh well, need to get a new tire. After calling every scion dealership in the valley i got the same answer "we never heard of a tc with that style tire nor have we heard of that tire" what? i just bought this 2 weeks ago, brand new! The tires that are on it are Bridgestone Turenza el400 215/45zr17. Anybody else have these? i went on the Bridgestone website and sure enough they have them. The local Bridgestone dealer told me 7 days before i could get one, and im supposed to go sea world in my new car next wednesday.

Thats not good...I just checked tireracks website and they don't list that size 215/45/17 for Bridgestone Turenza el400, they have others just not that size in the series. Hope you can find a replacement!!!

Factory low profile tires are generaly special order tires because they are manufactured for that particular car. Honda is the same way. We had to special order the Bridgestones for the Civics and they would take a week because they come from Bridgstone not a tire shop. It sucks that they do this, mainly because of your sitsuation. It is basicaly a way for the car manufacturer to get the dealerships to stock thier tires, but most dealerships wont because of the cost of the tires are so high. At Bell Honda we had many different brand tires instead of the factory ones because the customers dont want to spend the high price for the same tire that came with the vehicle so they will opt to buy 4 new off brands for half the price.

Next time this happens, (hopefuly it doesnt) buy a set of 4 new tires that are readily available at any given time. It'll be cheaper in the long run and you'll have more peace of mind.

I think im done with my story for tonight

***update*** What a break i got! i went to a used tire place this morning, and they had the same tire! 20 bucks mounted and balanced, and there is about quarter tread life left. That should hold me til the new comes in. At least no more nasty looking donut. Thanks for everyones input.

My wife had a similar problem with her Honda Element just last week. She got a nail thru the tire and peirced the side wall so we had to buy a new tire. We found one at Sears at Metro Center, Discount Tires had it as well but were about $50 more than Sears but no one else had them not even the dealerships she called. As we found out the only cars those tires will fit were the Honda Element and some Honda CRV's so no one stocks them.

Start calling some of the other tire places around town, someone is bound to have one. Since its so new you only really need to buy the one.

Cheers
Rob

That sucks about your tire...but if you or anyone goes to Discount Tire you can buy road hazzard warinties for your car at $23 each. Did that with the tires I have on my box and took a nail in the sidewall,,took three days too get the tire but it did not cost me a dime!

I would never buy tires from any where but discount. They always take care of the problem if there is one. I cant tell you on my old car how many tires they replaced and fixed for free. Even if they are supposed to charge most of the time for petty repairs and stuff they dont. I love Discount!lololol.

Well on a good note the other day I noticed that I was loosing air pressure in on of my tires so I took it off and there was a giant nail in it. So i took it over to my local dicount tire and they plugged it for free so if you ever have a nai/screw in the center portion of your tire...dicount tire's a good place to go.
