Ethanol in most gas stations in Hawaii, read!
As you know the state is mandating all gas sold here in Hawaii must contain 10% ethanol. I think this is a good idea as it is a step towards making our country more energy independent and it is also a big boost for our sugar industry, what's left of it.
Anyway I heard of potiential problems when water gets contaminated with E10 fuel. Things like failing fuel lines and fuel tanks and fuel gaskets etc. Anyway it seem like this is all true. Check out this site. It's not the easiest to read but it sums up the problems with ethanol mixed fuel. http://www.chevron.com/products/prod...soline/pg2.asp
There is also a reduction in fuel economy.
I think everything will be fine as long as the state somehow makes sure that the gas stations are doing their best to keep water out of our gas. I wonder if there is a way we can test gas for water inexpensively.
