i took my license plate off when i got my car and that was last year in aug. and i haven't gotten caught at all & i've been around cops (i drive through the police station downtown to get home from work). BUT, when i went to go get my drivers license test and you know how they check on the car such as light signalin, honkin' & etc.. the lady told me i needed a front license plate because its required and this was like a couple months ago lol.. so whenever i get a warning, I'll put my plate back on!

I got my xB in feb 04 and told the dealer not to drill the bumper and have had no trouble driving around the metroplex at all. just look around and check out all the benzes, bmw's, vettes etc hardly any of them are wearing front plates.

I got a ticket two weeks ago for having a clear cover over my liscense plate. $265.00 to be exact. He also gave me a warning about not having a front plate. I asked him about the law, and he said they tried to pass one, but it never went. When I asked him about the liscense plate cover.. he said and I quote "You can't have anything that covers any part of your liscense plate, cover, paint, anything!"

I know that....
but dealers still put their covers over them.

the actual quote from the rule says something like "anything that covers the original artwork or graphic and numbers of the plate is in violation....."

ive been drivin without mine still since i even got a citation for it. i just carry it with me just in case an toss it in the dash if i do get pulled over so i know i have it..... never the less small town cops do hassle u for it. cause what else is there to do in a small town anyway. the red lights in htown are there for your safety but they only take a photograph when the light turns red so when its yellow an your going through dont worry. but if its completly red an u go through it, be prepared to pay a fine.

yea, and a lot of people do run here without their plates and yea if you have it they can let you pass but if they make a note of your car in there computers (i call it flagging your car) then if they keep getting you for it then they'll give you a ticket.

i put mine back on cause the cop was messing around back in his cruiser for like five minutes just to only come back and say "be sure to put it back on and have a nice day..." i bet he made one of those notes...
