Hey whats uP? I'm new to the forums but I dunno if this has been brought up yet....But I was wondering about radar detectors? Are they illegal? or what? Cause I have heard that State troopers now have radars that can detect if a car does have a radar? Thats crazy if they do! but just wondering about that????

scioncop thanks for all the info you are providing for myself as well as others. i was in the police academy until i thought i would get retested for colorblindness. in michingan you can not be an officer if you are color blind. i am red, brown and green colorblind. now just recently i was told that the supreme court lifted that and said that it is unconstitutional. is that true. i have tried to check but have ran into nothing but dead ends. if its really has been lifted then i would join the academy again. anyways if you find out please pm me. thanks again.

Try checking with the Disabilities Act. You might be covered by it.

hey scioncop do you kno of any website that would tell me what modifications cant be done to a car in Pennsylvania. I dont really have a specific question off the top of my head but as i go through doin things i figured it be easier to just check a website. i tried reading the stuff on the PA DMV's website but it didnt make much sense. the only question i do have right now is with interior lighting. I was thinkin of adding a lighting kit like they sell but somethin alittle more different and wanted to kno if there were any laws preventing interior lights in a car. id assume lights that can be seen by other drivers cant be on when the car is being driving but what about lights that another driver couldnt see? thanks in advance

I don't know of any specific websites for legal mods. In Ct as long as the light is not visible from the outside they are legal. I asked about the Scion's interior lighting at the footpedals and cup holder areas ect. So far it doesn't seem to be an issue. But thats in Ct. You can always stop by your local PD and inquire about any specifics you need. They may have the literature or even the information to a website.

Well i found out from my drifting here from Cali that CT. aslo has somBullS@#T tintlaws the cop tried to give me a ticket not for my front windows but for my back passangers saying that speel about having to be able to see in . I lucked out of the ticket because i have a tint perscription and the cop couldn't enforce because the law differ in being my plates were issued in NY .
i did look up the laws which must be omended inCT it states that the windows are not suppost to be greater than 35% in the rear which is bull because most standard tint on vehicles coming out of the factory the tint in the rear of vehicles is standard at 15 % go figure anouther way for the CT. Goverment to steal or money. Oh yeah don't street race in CT. they also have the right to take away your ride without compensation .Also the ticket prices for speeding are a lot higher here than in NY.

scioncop i wanted to ask you a question. What exactly is drag racing considered to be according to a cop (and when would they stop you ?) Lets say for example you have an acceleration race, but never pass the speed limit, is that drag racing ? How exactly can they convict you of drag racing opposed to a speeding ticket ? For example lets say Car A and Car B are in a rush to get somewhere, and are on the same street speeding, how is a cop going to convict you of drag racing without knowing without a doubt whether they were randomly speeding or racing ?

Hey ScionCop. Good choice on the Flint Mica. That seems to be the colour I'm going with as well.

I have a couple things I'd like to run by you, just to get your opinion, if you don't mind... My friend has a Connecticut pistol-permit. He's not an ex-cop or anything, just a guy excersizing his 2nd Amendment right. Does his permit show up on your computer check if he gets pulled over? Do you guys prefer if someone mentions it when they get pulled over? or should they wait until if the cop asks? I know blurting out something like "I have a gun" is dangerous and all, but maybe saying to the cop like "I have a permit and am carrying" might ease his mind? What if my friend is a passanger in another car?

Just curious on your take. The class apparently teaches you not to mention it unless the cop asks.

There are conditions that must be met for the charge of racing. There must be some element of speeding and reckless driving. Of course with in conjunction of competing with another vehicle.

If Im going to charge some one with racing I must articulate that the vehicles appeared to be competing with each other. Not a difficult thing to do.

As far as the conditions you posted as not peeling off, not passing the speed limit, traveling same direction in multiple lane highway, and maintaining your lane.......

That would not constitute racing. That would be simple driving. As a matter of fact if you see me better get out of my way cause I'll run you off the road.

As far as the weapons status a person may have, yes it does show up on our system. We even have the info on what wepon your allowed to have.

It never hurts to let an Offficer know your carrying. Be sure to let them know where the weapon is. Don't worry it wont startle us. Show your permit along with your license.

Some people will wait to see where the Officer is going. If it's a simple quick stop then they wont say anything. But if the stop is going to be a bit more involved especially if your being asked to step out of the vehicle then be sure to mention it right away.
