are there any laws against hids in massachusetts. I have 12k, i was driving behind to cops on bikes last nite and i was so scared i stayed back like 10 car lengths, and they were still getting shined up. Am i safe with these, i love them, id hate to lose em

don't woory about the hid's I just got some put on this week on my new xB and the cops in town loved them. They can't believe that their new camry didn't come with it and my xB did. I told them that I payed about $3,000 cheaper for the same features in the scion. Where did you buy yours from?
Is it plug and play or did you have to cut wires?

HIDs are illegal if not OEM....

that being said, its almost impossible for a cop to tell if its an OEM option from the 10 seconds he looks at your car.

Only problem in your case, you chose the riced out purple lights. That will get you pulled over eventually, other people from MA can vouch for that. And 12k HIDs are a waste since it gives less usable light than regular bulbs...

 

i just installed them 2 days ago, and they actually arent purple, they are 12k though, does the color change or something

 

depends how far back you look at them... have someone else drive your car around the block so you can see how they look like far away, then up close..

 

there is a law but iguess it depends where in the country i have 12k's on my car and i was driving up one street and the cop was driving up the other and pulled me over i had to swindle him and told him they were stock from toyota and he was jus dumbfounded so he let me go, any HID after 6k is illegal as soon as it starts to get color there illegal but most cops wont say anything unless u get a d*ckhead cop

 

oh yeah btw 12k's are not purple there blue/white wit a tiny tint of violet...14k and up is purple purple

 

like l4ry b1rd said, all non-oem HIDs are illegal.
12k will get you pulled over. its had to make a cop believe those are oem on scions or another car due to the color. should've went w/ something less rice. IMO 6000k should be max

 

my 12k's dont look like that alot of different people have different color charts after 14k its dark purple, mine are alil more darker then the 10k but barely, as u can see in the picture of my car, the chart is jus a dramatization of it thats jus photoshop colors

 

yea, when i searched there were about 3 different colors for 12000k. but i can imagine what they really looks like. a friend of mine has 8000k and they are pretty blue, luckily he hasnt been pulled over

 

i have 12k's and they are blue/white with a little purple

 

yea my 12k's are blue(not dark) white and a tint of purple, i see alot of charts that say its purple when it really isnt

 

if you have projectors they are purple
