This is happening across the country. Had a dealership in Northern Va have 8 tundras had the catalytic converters cut off the truck on the lot. Also had a tC, had the wheels taken off adn 4 OLD nes PUT BACK ON!!
Someone needed tires, and switched them out!!!

 

stealing cats itsn't new, its been going on for a while. we do 2-3 a day and the muffler shop down the street does 10+ a day.

 

Yep, well, that's the way it is. thieves wouldn't make any money without their fences to unload the stuff they've stolen.

 

Back in the days of working for Lincoln Mercury, someone stole an auto-dimming rear view mirror out of a car on the lot. They smashed the window, reached in, and just pulled. The wires ripped the length of the headliner. They had the ***** to call in a few days later and ask about a wiring diagram for what they thought was a rear view mirror w/ a radar detector. Told them to stop on by, I'd print them a copy....they never show'd.

Also had the owners brand new Lincoln stolen one night. The police recovered it the next day. The entire JBL sound system was very professionally stripped. You can tell when there are pro's, and rookies.

They all need to be shot.

 

Yep I saw this in the news one shop got caught buying stolen CAT's.

well they mostly go for trucks because they're easy to get under and most are VERY easy to get to, esp. older toyotas.
its weird, before they didn't care about causing damage and they would just cut the cat off of the header pipe and cut the o2, now they unbolt everything and leave the bolts behind like they're doing you a favor and being nice.

ya my roommate said that the cat's are made of platinum most of the time and its gone up so much in price that people are stealig them and selling them. they steal my cat im screwed since i have catback exhaust lol.
