No, I'll sell the car to him and everything on it. I don't have my stock wheels & tires anymore so if I took these off it wouldn't be sitting on anything.
I have seriously considered the Mazda3, but I can't get the Speed because I can't drive a manual :-(

As soon as they can resolve that, the shop will be able to move it in and start checking out the rest. He said there did not seem to be damage to the front/wheels axle and sounded more focused on the front end/quarter panels.
He also said, though, that the damage already seems to be about 50% of the "value" of the car (not sure what the source would be for the value they are using) and once it reaches 75%+, that's probably when it would be called a loss. :-(

Well, I got my check yesterday. Since I told them I wanted to buy it back, I got $10,950 from insurance and then I sold (what was left of) it to a guy that works at the body shop (known forever) for $3400, so I walked away with $14,350.
I'm leaning toward a white Mazda3 5dr, but I'll also be looking at a 2002 Subaru WRX wagon (auto), hopefully within the next day or so. I'm not usually big on used vehicles, but this one is well taken care of, has some nice mods, and I have friends that work at a local Subaru tuner.

Well, I went to the Mazda dealership yesterday and I'll be getting that 2007 white Mazda3 5dr. I used Mazda's website to send out quote requests and have been working with an internet sales manager, so I'm getting an awesome deal! The car should be at the dealer sometime next week.
I'm gonna put ~$11,000 down and then finance the remainder. That way, I can get some wheels/tires right away and still have some money left to live before I get my first paycheck from the new job.
I'll miss the xB but I think I'll have fun getting stuff for the Mazda, too.

Thanks. I'll still come around the forums, but not like I posted much to begin with (at least before the Miami forum opened :-)
I'm pretty sure I'll come to the Backstage, unless I'm picking up my car that day of course. You're going Thursday, right?

WOW I know exactly what your going through!!! I dosed off for only a second and ran off the road and clipped a tree! OUCH!!!!! Idot factor times 3......
I knew right off it would probably be totalled. Engine was still running, but manual transaxle was messed up. It WAS an 06 with 70,000 miles(i drive alot) and it looks like the insurance is going to pay$12,330- 1000 deductible. Still owe $10,450 so looks like I will come out with a few hundred $$$..... Yeah, I knew I was going to take a pretty big hit on the milage, but what can you do.
I know what you mean with having to start over. I had bought it stock and had added all the accessories myself. I really did/do like the Xb. These little cars really seem to hold there value.... It seems used ones are going for just as much as new ones!! Unfortunatly, the 06 xb's are almost gone (stopped production in January) and not to many 5speeds left..... Some of the dealers appear to be starting to actually discount them to clear them out before the new 08 Xb comes out. No I'm not really that interested in the new 08 Xb even though it is greatly improved over the 06, but at probably $2000 more vs a deal on an 06 I don't think that's going to work and I probably need a car sooner than later! With the milage I drive I really need the 30mpg of the 06.... But like you have said, I'm not sure yet.....
Physically I am fine, not a scratch, but I'm sure you can vouch for me when I say I am totally drained mentally. Accidents can really take alot out of you!!

Yeah, I was definetely bummed for the first 3-4 days after the accident. I didn't realize how much I liked the car until then. Lucky my car was paid off so I pretty much come out ahead, but I would have much rather liked to see the xB get fixed and drive it again, but it'll never be the same.
If you really need something with great mileage, check out the Yaris. You can get the 3dr hatchback or a 4dr sedan and I think they both get 40mpg. Same engine as the xB, too. I almost bought a hatchback, but then figured since I had a good amount to put down, I wanted to get something with a little more power, etc. The Honda Fit is also closely priced with the Scions and the auto has steering column paddle shifters!
