They have come a long way with the chemo drugs and being able to counteract the ill affects with the anti-nausea meds. I'm just glad that they were able to get the new drug on board without many problems like she had the last time around. This is looking very promising.

Wow Robbie, I just read through all of this...Talk about a rollercoaster ride...Sounds alot like the ride I took with my THEN (5) year son who battled brain cancer for five years...We know all too well the affects of chemo as well as radiation treatments...He is now (15) years old and even though the tumor and craniotomy has left him with permanent damage and we will have to take care of him throughout his adult life, he is still with us and that is what is important...

You will get through this with family, friends, and prayer...Continue to be strong and my families thoughts and prayers are with yours...

Tim

Thanks Tim, yeah its been a real ride. Shirley is getting hit hard with the nausea this time around. She has been really sick to her stomach. The anti-nausea meds are working, but she was not feeling to good this weekend. Have another long day today at the chemo center to get the Arzerra in her. Hopefully she won't have a reaction this time around and they can get us out at a decent time.

Robbie...Shirley...I need to talk to you! Shirley left me a voice mail last week, but I am scared to call, since I don't want to interrupt any rest she may be getting!

Looks like today is a chemo day, so I will definately not call today or tomorrow.

I miss you both like crazy. It was so good to hear Shirley's voice on my phone! Victor and I would like to host a little party for you guys, but I want to make sure it's ok with you first. There is so much I want to do to help you, but I dont even know where to start. Please tell me of anything you need...

I am having surgery next week, so I will be out of commission for a bit, but I would be a good Shirley-sitter if needed!

Oh my GOD...it says 40 next to my name now!! ACK!! That looks too weird!

So, we made it through the 2 rounds of chemo. Had an appt. at OHSU yesterday to talk to the transplant doctor and his coordinating nurse, got informed as to what was going to happen next. She already has an appt. for another bone marrow biopsy next week and we have a class we have to attend at OHSU on the 17th of this month. Going to get another round of chemo on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th, then start neupogen injections every day to help raise her white cell count for harvesting. They have a very small window as to when to do this, so we will be basicly on call and will be getting blood work done on a daily basis to track this. After this is done, then we will begin the process of chemo for 6 days to kill her bone marrow off and then the transplant. If everything goes as they have it tentatively mapped out, she could be getting the transplant as soon as the 19th of April. I will be taking a month off work when she gets released from the hospital as I will be her caregiver and she will need 24/7 care for the first month or more. This was a load that they hit us with yesterday and we are still processing it and trying to get everything figured out. Then, when we get home I had an email from the nurse stating that she forgot to inform us that we would have to relocate to Portland so that we are within a 30 min drive to the hospital for the first 30 to 45 days after she is released. I don't know how we are going to do it, but we will figure something out. They want us close so that we won't be late for any appts. and she is going to be having them several times a week. We have a relative that lives in Portland, so we are going to use his address and just make sure we leave the house with enough time to make the drive down from home, Heck, give me a siren and a red strobe on the hood, I can be there in 30 mins, lol.

Yeah, and I'm working every available weekend until things happen. May have to take a weekend off and head north, I hear there are some people up there that want to see us,(Kelly, Victor and Keith) so we may have to pop up and see how the northern half live, lol. Party at the club.

Well it sounds like things are beginning to look towards the positive. Though it sounds like you still have a lot of work to go through first, but in the end if it all works then it will be worth it.

I do think you need to come up north so we can all do dinner & catch up/get your mind away from all the stress & real life stuff =)
