Now - I have my headlights shaded with "Niteshades", and I taped off the reflectors and marker lights. Am I considered illegal, since my HID's cleanly shine through?

It actually depends on how "nice" the judge is and also your previous driving record violations, because he/she puts that into perspective too.

Awww man. So I actually have to show up to court? Damn OC. My driving record is absolutely clear. How much do you think it is?

No - I don't think you HAVE to show up in court. Whenever you receive a ticket, the judge eventually looks at the ticket, and then looks at your previous driving record, and if you want to FIGHT the ticket (which I wouldn't recommend, since the judges in CA LOVE these types of tickets), he/she determines what type of fine you'd receive.

Since you're saying that it's your first ticket, then I doubt the fine would be really high. Most likely it's just a "Fix-It" ticket and those usually are a $10 fine if you can prove that you fixed it.

Ten bucks? Really! And you folks complain?

Fines for that start at $500 here...

I got an email from my traffic school newsletter with new/update laws for 2009.

Thank you too simplefastfun.com

IMPORTANT NEW TRAFFIC LAWS FOR 2009...AND BEYOND!

ON THE GO, OFF THE PHONE! (California Vehicle Code Section 23123.5)

Communicating via text messages ("texting") is all the rage these days, and text addicts aren't about to stop while they're behind the wheel. Indeed, a Time Magazine article notes that the activity not only occurs, but it's disturbingly prevalent — considering that drivers must take their eyes off of the road to read or write a text message!

Texting while driving has been cited as a likely factor in fatal accidents from coast to coast, prompting California to join many other states in banning the activity. Effective January 1, 2009, it is against the law to use an electronic wireless device to write, send, or read a text-based communication (text messages, instant messages, e-mail, etc.). An infraction is punishable by a base fine of $20 for the first offense, and $50 for each subsequent offense (not including penalty assessments, which could double or even triple the cost).

On a related note, two recent studies from the University of Utah Traffic Lab take a rather unfavorable view of any cell phone use. The first found that drivers on cell phones — even those using hands-free devices — travel more slowly than other drivers and are less likely to pass sluggish vehicles, lengthening the average commute by an estimated 5% to 10%. Another experiment found that mobile phone calls distract drivers far more than chatty passengers. Even hands-free phoners exhibited dramatically slower reaction times, followed other vehicles too closely, and missed exits. Meanwhile, chatty passengers were context-aware and could help drivers navigate through difficult situations. Check out these fascinating videos: phone / passenger. Don't be surprised if all of this bad press eventually leads to a complete ban on "phreeway phoning." The National Safety Council recently kicked off a campaign to restrict all use of mobile phones while driving.

DRINK, DRIVE, DO LIFE? (California Vehicle Code Section 13385)

We all know by now that driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs (DUI) is dangerous, leading to more than 13,000 deaths nationally each year. Despite this, a recent study by the federal government showed that 15% of adult drivers admitted to driving drunk at least once in the past year. Still, if you kill someone while driving under the influence, is it…murder? According a recent report from "60 Minutes," a growing number of prosecutors are pursuing tough sentences to stem the deadly tide. A new California law requires drivers who are obtaining or renewing a license to sign a declaration acknowledging that they may be charged with murder if a person is killed as a result of their DUI. There's never been a better time to use — or be — a designated driver!

so i just got pulled over for the one time i have my windows up on my tc. mind u i got tint all around, 5% backs, 25% fronts, its been 3 years and the one time i have em up i get ticketed, damn, long run, time to get it written off and then put some 5% on the fronts. hehe. cop also tried to give me ishh about my front license plate. (on the dash)
i told him my story of why i can put it on the front and he let me off.
story is that this idiot didnt tie down boxes on his truck and a couple fell off and i had no time to brake and his boxes ____ed up my front, license plate ripped off, foglights and grill pushed in. the threading of the holes for the license plate bolts are completely ruined so i cant put it on. everytime i try, it falls off. so a fix it ticket is like $15?>
