California Vehicle Code a.k.a. "The Law"
Does anybody know how any of these laws effect visitors to the state? As in an "out of state" vehicle who violates, oh lets say OVER HALF on the list
I'm legal in my home state, and that's usually what matters but its looking like my B is going to be a cop magnet when I roll out there for a visit.
Any local law enforcement to chime in? I hate to have to park at the border and walk

As far as I know if you're visiting another state and you are breaking some of the mod codes, you'll be fine, you'll still be a cop magnet and will be under a magnifying glass, so if you commit any moving violations the police will not hesitate to give you a ticket for that.
I hope so because some of the stories of cars getting impounded for something like a CAI or header is just crazy. Where I live the good-ol-boys take their brand new trucks to the muffler shop to remove the cat and have strait pipes put on.
So I pretty much have it made out here.
Another reason I ask is because I was pulled over coming back from the United event by an Arizona state trooper. I thought it was strange because I've been told they were more lax on car laws there. He followed us for over fifteen minutes before he lit us up. I think its because he didn't really have a reason or probable cause in cop terms, and did the I pull them over and go from there route.
So he claimed that he pulled us over to check our window tint.
And proceeded to do so with his nifty gauge then said I was 1 point over my states legal limit and he gave me a fix it ticket. My state is 25% on front side windows and that's what the tint guy put on so I never changed a thing.
So it sounds like if I drive with my windows down, and stay in 5th gear all the time I should be OK

Thank you for all this useful information! I just moved to SoCal and I know I'm probably getting looks cuz of my tinted tails but maybe the MS tag fixes that. Since my Hubby is military I might just leave it registered in ms! * just visiting * lol
"Federal law requires a Smog Check inspection for vehicles not registered in California but are owned and operated by non-resident military personnel on active duty in California."
That means, you might not get a base access sticker before you pass smog. Also, don't let any smog tech tell you that anything after the cat matters to them, as long as you have a cat, you can have straight pipe after that and be smog legal, street legal is a totally different thing, though.
If you have any questions about Smog laws, just mention me in the post, and I'll get back to you by the next day.
Alright on my D I have a LED light in the front of my car like AUDI. Its color blue . But my actual headlight is natural color not HID Or LED ;) is this illegal because there's a cop next to me trying to figure out If it's illegal or not last night. Take not it's not the HEADLIGHT
