ok, well i havent postd on here yet, so i guess its bout that time.
everybody who posted is pretty much rite.

u cant 4get that we are on the i-net, meaning peeps will talk all the head in the world because they will never meet that person and dont have to worry bout gettin an a$$ whoopin.

also, i remember when i first came to this site, july, i was feelin the love. i jus bought the car. if i had questions, i'd put them on the board, and peeps would QUICKLY RESPOND WITH HELPFUL ANSWER/OPINIONS/SOLUTIONS. all was well.
now, all u get is SEARCH. damn that word kills me. yea i kno, the person should search, but come on. if its something big, then its understandble. but if its a lil question that can be answered in 1 sentence, then y not jus answer it intstead of saying search???
damn, that ____ scares people away.

also, everybody has there own opinions, good or bad.
as a person, if ur gonna post pics of ur car/new mods, u have to be willin to take the ____ peeps gonna say bout it, good or bad. its only the i-net, its not that serious. and if u let somebodys words get to u that bad that u dont even kno, then um........i dunno wat to tell u.
example, i remember when i posted saying that i was gonna put lights throught my whole car, even underbody lite. what response did i get.

i've met a lot of coo new peeps from this site. peeps are funny as hell, for real.
my first scion meet was wit MARVELOUS at the target in cerriots. they were coo/funny as hell.
kirby is crazy. teabox is retarded. steph is crazy. Tev is coo. both Brians. Chef.......man, everybody. Tommy. Nilo. some of the SDG. ____, a whole lot of peeps. pls dont be mad if i left u out. nothin personal. its all its like a big fam.

way better then the sentra se-r/spec V community that i came from. the love there was no where near the love of the scion community

its still a useful website but its not like other forums at all...

lots of misinformation, lots of _____ing women (im kidding, but there are a lot more girls on this forum than most), lots of people thinking TRD parts are god, lots of people with turbod and supercharged automatics, lots of people who grill you for everything you say, etc...

people always try to fight with you on this forum.

Oh and the scion community in general is pretty wack. I mean all these kids with stock cars thinking they're the ____... I dunno, kinda makes me think about swapping the tc for an old civic. Although those people are ricer dicks they are much more passionate about their cars and their mods... i mean scion people are cool and all but they think their rides are friggin the ____ and they usually dont know what they're talking about..

I mean people are asking questions like what do I need to turbo my car when they clearly have no idea how a turbo or an engine or a trans works..

i dunno, whatever, im off to school..

im not gonna lie, im a female, and when it comes to engin stuff, other then SOME of the BASICS, im lost.
but i dont play stupid.
thats also y im not modding the tC based on performance. im a "show" type person. i like the matching interior, suede, rims, etc. so, thats what im goin to do. as far as under the hood, for now, it'll jus be my intake.
maybe an exhaust, and headers would be pushin it.

and ur rite, some peeps wit scions act as though they are the ____. welp, there is really nothin u can do about that other then to ignore them and keep it pushin.

Thanks for the feedback, both positive and negative...............doesn't matter. As long as I'm opening eyes, its all good for me and the others.

Some people feel like this forum is good and friendly, others not. Some leave to go to other club forums.........only to return back to the drama...............personally, I know drama will ALWAYS be around............but I just want it to be minimal. I want SL to have a better rep.........and not be know as "the house/place of where drama lives."

The ironic thing about forums is - and it's in ALL forums - is that if all we wanted was a static information database where all people did was "search" then it wouldn't be much of a forum, would it?
There are degrees of laziness, and some folks are just plain lazy and want EVERYTHING spoon-fed to them.
What we're talking about though is different, and hell, if you don't want to answer a question for the 30th time, ignore it!

I've used the "please search" thing on occasion, but normally, i'd rather just help out.

Even when I tell folks to search next time, I usually either do a quick search for them and provide links to appropriate topics, or just go ahead and provide an answer.

Thing is, it it actually IMPORTANT to get people the search instead of asking the same question for the 300th time. Why? Every time someone asks the same question and gets a long thread going with right answers, "I don't knows," wrong answers, people talking about their vacation, people telling them to search, people calling them stupid, people calling everyone ELSE stupid, etc., it makes it that much more difficult to find the REAL answers with a search.

For every thread with real, valuable, gold plated answers there are probably a hundred others showing up in a search, masking the good thread. Those are all those "I didn't search but does anyone know..." topics that shouldn't even exist.

Please, people, every single repeat if the same question makes it that much harder for ANYONE to find the answer. If it is a question related to something discussed in another topic, ask there instead of starting a new topic for that one detail. It will make it easier to find ALL the information on a topic in one place instead of fragmented in thirty different threads.

Sorry 'bout jumping up on the soapbox, but you hit a sore point with me. Every day the search function gets more difficult to get results from, and that is directly related to all those new topics started by people who should have searched first.

We don't plead with people to use the search first just because we like to say that thousands of times, we do it because NOT searching is screwing the whole search process up.

While I get that Tom, the search function does suck.
If I could search thread titles only, that would be great. Unless I'm missing something, I don't think I can do that.

and its not right, its not cool and in the last few weeks ive realized the stupid drama

it was a way about me, angry all the time (wont get into anything, no sob stories)

I'm not going to read this diatribe of a thread. I'm just going to add my perception that the purpose of "moderating" and "owning" an auto site is not to show your perceived "I know more than you over new folk who come in to visit...." it is to welcome them so the site grows and has new traffic. If one has ego needs as a website moderator, they are losing money for the owner. Anyway...I also have seen a change since I was a mod. ;) Tomas mods like a ****, the best of the best....but folk also come here for info...saying "search for the answer" is pretty much a cop out imo...it merely says "I've been here longer than you".

Anyway this site kicks serious as$.

 

As for the "search" reply for common questions, I typically answer the post and usually supply a link to where the answer can be found. I try to be helpfull and it's an easy way to bump my post count.
