In the interest of Full Disclosure (sp?) I should say that I have been in a few flame-fests, most recently with a member that joined only and specifically to talk tihs on Scion owners. I got sucked in, talked a bunch of p00p and Tom went through and deleted the whole thread...for about 10 mins, while he was cleaning it up kicked the dude out, and we're back on out way...

Also, one of the things that kept me on this site, was how nice and helpful ppl were when I got here. Now, mot so much, but I still love the site, and some days I'm on here more than any 2 members combined. I still welcome any new members I see, and try to respond with as much help, and detail as I can....
My train of thought just departed....Sorry for the rant.

I noticed that some people in SL acts like if they are an expert on every
topic that is posted.. they also act as an if they are a "GOD" of SL.. there is taboo here where u can't speak the truth about other member for their action or whatever he or she is promoting.. I personally think some people just spend little too much time on SL and not realizing there is real world out there! I guess for some members they get noticed here in SL and in real world they are simple a loner.. so they pretend to be someone they are not! honestly I don't take SL too seriously.. it is just electronically typed up words!

people always try to fight with you on this forum.

Oh and the scion community in general is pretty wack. I mean all these kids with stock cars thinking they're the poop... I dunno, kinda makes me think about swapping the tc for an old civic. Although those people are ricer dicks they are much more passionate about their cars and their mods... i mean scion people are cool and all but they think their rides are friggin the poop and they usually dont know what they're talking about..

I mean people are asking questions like what do I need to turbo my car when they clearly have no idea how a turbo or an engine or a trans works..

i dunno, whatever, im off to school..

hahaha..that's what im talkin' about. i seriously thought i was the only one on this forum who thinks that way.

sorry to say, but this guy is right.

a lot of people (not all, but many) on here get butthurt so easily i feel like im in a playground with 8 year olds. if someone talks sh*t about your car, oh well..that's life. i know people are probably talking sh*t about mine, but who cares! a lot of the scions i see in this forum are not to my liking, but really..who cares what i think. if you ask what i think about your car, then i will tell you straight up what i think. it's all matters of opinion. if you cant take criticizism then don't post your car on the forums, don't go to car shows or car meets because you will just end up crying over something so stupid.

to the topic about the using "SEARCH"...so many of you SL'ers are using all the sites bandwidth making threads about topics that already have been covered. SEARCH IS YOUR FRIEND. i cant stress the number of SAME TOPIC threads in here. it's ridiculous. i wish the MODS would do something about that...seriously. i know the MODS on honda-tech just delete or lock threads on topics that already have been covered. making room for bandwidth that can be used on something new.

finally..i got this off my chest.

I'll agree with everyone that there are too many duplicate topics re-opening settled matters - people don't use search.

I also agree that it would be nice to clean that up, to blow away all the duplication so that when someone searched for an answer they would be taken directly to that answer.

Thing is, with over 2.4 million posts here on ScionLife the job is too large for a dozen volunteers to even contemplate doing in their free time.

We've tried to do it by insisting people search first, and locking repeated topics covering the same information, but the only response we get from the members is complaints that their topic was locked.

I, personally, do not have a solution. I'd be willing to listen to anyone who does. :D

I'll close with this...

Oh, let me also apologize for getting this thread somewhat off-topic. Back to being nice, everyone!!!

Is there a way to add links to related topics in posts?

To get this back on topic, I split out the side discussion on moderation philosophy.

lol, I meant lots of _____ing women on this forum as in _____ing women. not guys who _____ like women... I mean the ratio of males to females on this site is about 4:1 and every other site is 25:1. I'm not arguing but sometimes you girls really don't know what you are talking about. And I'm not trying to pick a fight, there are probably more guys on here that don't know much either, but it seems if you try to explain something to a girl they tell you they understand everyrthing and they're not stupid, etc. I mean, I try to take criticism and the info people are willing to give to help me out, because I clearly dont know everything there is to know either... It's just weird that there's so many chicks on a car site, but I'm not arguing.

I dunno, it's a good site. I just don't like when people who do know info think they are too good for everyone and dont share it, and I hate when people who dont know anything continue to argue that they are right.

I also really hate all the double posts, but I do try to send people in the right direction. I usually use google or SL search to find everything I need to know, and what I don't know (often about installs) I just grab the toolbox and start ripping stuff apart. That seems to be the easiest way to learn, is to get in there with some tools...

oh well I think im off to do some school work...

naw that guy is entitled to his own opinion. I certainly don't know everything about cars (nor does anyone in here), but I can appreciate them more than the average female. I always go to my friend's house and watch him as he install mods (and also help here and there) but I mostly watch to learn. I remember the first time I was scared to unscrew the antenna to put the sk2 on in; now we just finished my full 3rd brake light and DC strut tower bar. So I learn. I absolutely need to learn about the engine part. I DEFINITELY know everything about exterior and what looks good (it's in the female genes just like you boyz have more car genes than us), I think I got all suspension down. But the engine bay area I'm still a lil iffy. And I need to learn.

Oh I'm learning stick shift too :D

Then of course you got the stupid white american trash chick who won't take any criticism at all and be all snobbish. (please note I am really trying to take his criticism in a good way )

wow, so maybe this isn't the end of SL??

lol, but I don't think I said anything bad, it's just that there are a lot more ladies on this site as opposed to say a subaru site...

and it's cool that you watch and learn. And yea about the antennae everyone was at the point at some time in their life, lol. I remember I was so friggin scared to mess up on my ealry mods but with the help of others and some experimenting on my own I got better. Reading helps a lot to learn about some stuff too... but lately I've been busy so I aven't have time to do to much on cars...

tolerance people!

i tryed to help out a guy with a chip on his shoulder and i responded in a joking way it was taken wrong and he responded back with a very childish pm

it bothers me how people can be

with things like this im not shure i want to be part of this any more, im just upset over the pm

its all so childish, grow up people if you have nothing good to say leave it alone or deffend your thought in a mature manner the Moderators our not our mothers and shouldent have to make shure we all play nice!

tolerance is the key

Don't leave, there are more good people than buttheads.
Really. I know how you feel - I put up with a lot of crap at first because I'm "so old" but I eventually learned to laugh it off.
