Remember when you go to court, dress appropriately, stand up straight and say yes sir and yes mame! Don't laugh a first impression at court always counts.

Good luck!

No lawyer needed, just be courteous! You will be fine. Also don't stress you are making to much of this situation, you do not need high blood pressure, get your BF on here to pay for it, thats what they are for!

Hmmm, I've gotta question for those who have gotten speeding tickets... Do the count the actual speed? Or the speed on the speedometer?

AFAIK, the xB and most cars are always off by a bit on the speedo, especially the xB. If the xB says its going 80pmh, its actually going 74ish. Would I get a ticket for that on the 605 or 405? I've seen MANY cars cruise past me, but then, I've cruised past much more too...

I don't know if it works differently elsewhere, but in NY I found you should never immediately plead guilty and pay the fine.

My first ticket was like 185 bucks and 4 points, but after pleading not guilty and showing up on my court day it was taken down to 100 bucks and no points. My second ticket was downgraded to a lesser violation and once again with lowered fine and no points. So yes in the end you will end up paying for something, but you could end up paying less and with no points to worry about.
Agreed you should always go in for a speeding ticket, I went in for one of my tickets, and the first thing the judge said was "I'm in a good mood today, so I bet everyone is gonna leave here happy. I genereally go easy on everyone...except speeders and when Children are involved." I was caught speeding into a school zone with 2 kids in the car. He cut my fine in half.

+[infinite] this can't be stressed enough, Dress appropriately, and take out any facial piercings, if you have any. Remember you are trying to look good, not cool. The judge doesn't care if your Sean Johns cost $400 if they are sagging under your butt. And please, for the love of God, DON'T.SPEED. when you leave the court house! I've seen people around me in court get the ticket taken care of, then tear as.s leaving the court, and get another ticket.

#3Mine cost $245 and that was 41 mph in a 25 Residential area. #2 $375, 86 mph in a 65 (91 express lane)
#1 $400.00 plus traffic school ($27.90) 85 in a 45.
Pay the fine, go to traffic school. (Get a radar detector too)

Just dress nice, and be polite. Hopefully you won't be the first on the docket, so you can see what happens, get some ideas (good and bad)

well my mother is hoping to get first on the docket, we are going on my birthday, we are supposed to go to big bear and go camping, but we are gonna do it that morning cus my dad has to work and the main goal of this is to not let daddy dearest find out that his little girl got a speeding ticket... trust and believe that would be bad if he found out.

Yes dress nice for sure...Answer yes your honor or no your honor. I know that sounds lame but its a respect thing with the judge. You will be okay. Don't be nervous or scared. You got off pretty easy with them bringing your speed down to 79mph. My buddy just got a ticket for doing just over 90 on the freeway and the cop told him he COULD take him to jail and impound his truck. He said if you are 30mph over the posted speed limit it could be an automatic pass to the slam for Reckless driving and an impounded car.

but second or third would only be another like 10 mins and you would get a feeling for the judge, and what to/ not to do.

Radar detectors don't really do anything do they? They just detect if a radar is actually scanning the area. I heard that it doesn't detect cops anymore since they don't use "radar" they use instant lasers.

well see radar wouldnt have even helped me if I had it. I was an idiot and was texting while driving so i wasnt paying attention around me like i usually am. Mind you i go like 120 all the time in my piece of ____ car, but now that i get a new car the cops are all over the place. But i usually just lift up on the E break and i slow down if i see him. well i guess he pulled right behind me and turned on his sirens. It took me over a minute to realize i was being pulled over, between texting and the radio i really wasnt paying attention behind me. It could have been worse, he gave me a break on the speed but the ___ hole still wanted to meet his quota and gave me the ticket, and i was so sick too, i didnt have a voice and was coughing and sneezing all over him. I hope he gets what i have... it lasts 10-15 days!

Well, just buy a Radar detector I have been using them for about three years. They will save you if the cops are shooting radar. If they are shooting lasar there isn't much you can do. Stay away from Cobra though, they are useless. I have the new bel v940 and it works great. Check out www.radardetector.net for info. A radar detector won't help if they are not running radar. Hope this helps and I feel radar detector are great and will pay for itself in no time.
