tC -> FR-S.....and I am back!
how many miles do you have on ur setup and do you still have the noise?
Ok so question...
I'm looking to tap into my dome lights to run some LED's that will turn on/off with my door switch. I saw in your post (#361) you talked about using the blue and black wires behind the actual dome assembly as the hot and ground. My question is, do these 2 wires go somewhere that is more accessable? I could use these 2 but I would much prefer to use them from somewhere else so I don't have to run the wires all the way from up there to somewhere under the dash

they should be going to the fuse box/connector panel to the left of the steering column. The problem I have is that I have so much electrical crap installed that the whole area is a mess and impossible to see through.
just pull off the trim coverin that area and you'll see ~5 big connectors there and try to look for the same color wires. If you think you found it then disconnect the battery and check continuity with a multimeter
So I pulled off my Dome light assembly and compared the wires to the wires running to the fuse box to the left of the steering column. Do you think that these would be the same?

good job! however it is still not 100% that those are the same. you need to strip a little piece off of each wire and using a multimeter test if it is the same wire. if you dont have a multimeter then you can use a 9V battery and connect it to the stripped wires and see if dome will light up, press on the door switch and reverse polarities of the battery to test. DO ALL THAT WITH THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED and car OFF of course!
using a battery could be dangerous because it could trigger the circuit which activates air bags(if its a wrong wire) hahaha.... do it at ur own risk

So they ended up being different wires
I checked for continuity in the 2 blue wires that I pictured and it said they were connected, but when I had the battery connected I didn't get any reading from them. I also tried the dark blue wire and didn't get a reading either. I tried using different grounds like the one in the dome, the one I pictured, and different bolts on the car. I guess the search for the correct dome wire continues!
Ps... If anyone knows which wire is the dome wire.. help a brother out

dont try to ground to anything else. the door switch is a negative trigger as a result the ground is different from the rest of the car. you say you got continuity on blue. did u get continuity on the black?
when getting a reading from the dome did you press/depress the door switch?
I tried grounding with the black wire in the dome assembly harness, but I got nothing so I tried other grounds..and also got nothing. I tested them with the micrometer with the positive touching the wires I was testing and the negative touching the black wire in the dome harness.
I got continuity on blue but I didn't on black. But when I switched it over to volts, I didn't get any reading at all. When I read the volts using the blue and black on the dome harness it read 12V as it should.
And yes when I have it hooked up to the blue/black on the dome harness it read 12V, then when I shut the door it read 0. But as I said before, I was getting 0V from using the blue wires by the fuse box with the ground on the dome assembly.

I thought that at first too. But when the doors are open there's 12V running from the blue wire in the dome harness to the black wire in the dome harness. And in the same conditions, there's 0V running from the blue wire by the fuse box to the black wire in the dome harness. And when I close the door, both of those have 0V
I tried the dark blue wire and the medium blue wire, both of them had the exact same results. There's also a very light blue wire but it's significantly different colored than the dome harness wire so I didn't even try it

I'm having the hardest time finding that 8 pin plug. Is it going to the fuse box under the dash or in the dash where you have to pull that plastic thing out to get to?
And would Dome Supervision be the correct one? It just donesn't sound like it's what i'd be looking for

yeah its the panel right under the mirror controls, pull it off and you'll see a bunch of plugs. looks for door and hatch switch wires as well
no snow for months and now on March 1st...
