Default 2.5L Rav4

Does this have the same engine as the new scion TC? also I would like to know if the mods would be compatible with the Rav4's engine such as, CAI,Turbo's,Superchargers etc... I'm a RAV4 owner trying to get as much power as I can from this 4banger SUV XD

Wow, I'm late to this party, but even 2009 and later entry-level KIA's have nicer and better-looking interiors than this monstrosity.

The old TC design was one of the slickest on the market, and still is IMO. Nice clean lines, and that door that could hide the stereo controls...

what are they thinking? None of the new scion releases have the edge that they launched with. The xD: disappointing interior. The 2nd gen xB: disappointing "new" design that looks like a minivan. Now this with the new tC.

They need to fire their designers. Disappointing.

fire the designers? that means firing 5AXIS. they laid the ground work for the xB2 and tC2. xD came from Europe. Scion needs to go back Japan designs. xB? QNC. xD? Euro/JDM Ist. tC? something more sporty which Toyota offers nothing anywhere in the world

Talking First Tv Commercial

Just saw the first commercial for this 2nd gen tc. Its basically the same as the one on Scion.com. Just nice seeing it on the telly. Actually looked pretty nice zipping around.

drove it today. The shifting is a lot easier in the 2nd gen and the car looks much better in person.

I bought my Tc in 2004. The very frist at the lot and when I found it I never even heard of the brand Scion. Fell in love with the body lines and styling. Now the 2011 comes out and I was expecting good things and was completely blown away..... Wow! this new Tc sucks!!! Besides the bigger motor and six speed trany this thing has nothing on the first gen. Interior looks bland and exterior looks ripped off from some type of dodge. Come on Scion....you make me feel better about debadging my car, and that's not a good thing.

People who own the old of anything rarely ever like the new. You fall in love with things about yours and get mad when someone changes them. It happens with EVERY brand.

I personally like the step forward, but can totally understand the position others may have. I liked the 2006-2008 Civic Si, but not the 2009+. But those who I talked to that have yet to own one of those like the new body design.

^ Not true because there are new things that are awesome:
New R35 GT-R vs R34 GT-R
New C6 Corvette vs C5
New Mustang GT vs old Mustang GT
New Hyundai anything vs old, including the Genesis vs Tiburon, and new Sonata vs old Sonata
New E90/92/93 BMW 330/335/M3 vs E46
New Toyota bB (JDM QNC21) vs Toyota bB (NCP31)
New E140/150 Corolla vs E120/130 Corolla
New Lexus IS350 vs IS300(minus the extremely modded ones)
New Ferrari 458 Italia vs old F430
New Prius vs Old Prius
New Ford Fiesta vs Old Fiesta
New Ford Focus vs Old Focus
Chevy Cruze vs Cobalt vs Cavalier

Bad examples are Honda, who have taken steps backwards. . . some say Scion. . . definitely a lot of bad examples in Acura, as well as Saab, and some other dying brands I don't care to mention.

I'd rather have a R34 over a R35. Hell I really would rather have a 1972 Skyline. I've never owned any of them and I still prefer the older model. Newer isn't always better.

You pick one example. . . ok fine. Bias is sooooooo through the roof, jeeeeez. The point was exactly that, newer isn't always better, but it often times is. 745L's point was that people "hate" newer models because they are partial to the current models they own. But the fact that you don't own any Skylines and prefer the R34 shows a great point: that people like what they like based on content. Older isn't better because it's older, and newer is better because it's newer. Better stuff is better stuff, plain and simple.

There is a disagreement over the 2nd gen tC, most arguments stemming from the looks. But besides the engine and transmission, there has been a bit of cost cutting and a hike up in price. Opinions are still opinions, and most are valid, except those based on bias (not talking about anyone in particular). I'm not going to continue to bash the new tC, I just wanted to point out that it's ridiculous to assume that people will ALWAYS hate the newer model, and a look at almost any evolutionary redesign will point to the exact opposite. People usually can't wait to trade in their obsolete stuff for the new stuff, hence why people lease (RENT) cars.

I picked the Skyline because it was first on your list. I could say the same thing about several cars. I do wonder how could I be biased when I've never owned the car? If I owned a '72 and said all Skylines after that are crap or if I owned a R35 and said they finally got it right, then you could call me biased. My opinion is purely objective.

And as far as the new tC goes, a lot of people are let down by it, myself included. If I didn't know the difference, then I'd assume that the 2G is better because it's newer. But after driving my 1G for almost 5 years now, then driving the 2G, I know that's not the case in every aspect. And that's not based on bias considering I would love to trade my car in for something better. I'm not all that attached to it. I call things as they are and refuse to be a sheep that says praise Scion just because I happen to own one.

I like the six speed and the 2.5L engine definitely sounds a lot more alive. As far as the interior...meh. Its weird how the passenger vents are totally different from the driver vents but I do like the seats, even though they are rock hard. Subaru and Nissan are the way to go, goodbye Toyota.

One more complaint, the front windshield sucks. I feel like im in a dodge charger or school bus.

You should read first before you get offended and emotional. Forums are like talking to an emotional ex-girlfriend at the wrong time of the month, even compliments are taken as insults. . .

. . . My point was that you were not. Since you never owned a Skyline, you're not subjected to the "I own the old one therefore I like the old one and hate the new one" mentality. But it's a bit hasty to throw a whole laundry list away because a handful of models. The point of the list is that if there was even one model that broke the mold, it disproved the whole notion that older is better than newer. My point is that it's about the cars, not the age. If the new car sucks, people will hate it. But I said all that already in the first post.

Who's emotional? You don't know me so I guess I can't blame you for not knowing I could care less about what people say on the internet. Whatever point you are trying to make is null and void considering people are going to like what they like. It's a totally opinionated matter.

That's exactly what I said, dude... Lol, you're being very defensive when I've agreed with everything you've said. You lashed out at me for calling you biased, but I didn't. I'm not sure why you insist on arguing with me when we share the same opinion... Please read before disagreeing with your own opinion. It's confusing.

LOL if you think that's "lashing out" then you're a little too sensitive for me to debate with. I can't imagine what you would think if I put emotion behind what I'm saying.

We're not debating. You're just restating my arguments. We're in total
agreement, yet you want to debate? That's not debating, it's wasting time. Lashing does not have to be severe. My point was that you were offended I agreed with you.

Lol'n. You didn't offend me. I'm not sure where you got that from. Anyway, as much as I'd like to continue this banter with you (that's sarcasm just in case you missed it), I must bid you adieu. I have to be up in 6 hours.
