I spent a fair amount of time talking with them about why the xB2 wasn't selling like the xB Classic did.

The idea of Scion is to capture the imagination of new buyers into the Toyota family. The original xB and the tC are the ones that actually did that.

They really do need a fresh car that wasn't designed by a committee using surveys and polls. (Sadly that really is how the xB2 was designed.)

Scion needs to find an individual designer with vision and a marketing team with guts - just like the original bB/xB/tC.

A Scion needs to roll in the front door, lights flashing, music blaring, ignoring the shocked looks of the majority, not quietly sliping in the side door, blending in with the crowd - and getting lost.
Exactly.

I bought my box for looks, edginess, and customization potential. That is the only thing that brought me out of the entry-level luxury car market. The thought that I could get a radically different looking car and load it up with goodies and still be under $20K was too enticing to overcome.

There's an xb1 around the corner from me selling for just under 15K. and from the outside it looks stock! How cool is that!

It's just like when I do research on the toyota ist/ scion xa I find that they had a 1.3L awd version! How hot would have that been to have an awd xA?? The fun to drive factor would have been crazy...

I do have to agree with you. Scion should've stayed with that concept, but no...they managed to create a 2nd gen xb that isn't appealing, and the xd just isn't anything worthy either. When they first showed the car to us in Miami, I just couldn't believe how they could've created those cars after the original tc, xb and xa...it just seemed like they decided to go a different route that had no real chance of appealing to the current owners or bring new owners to the brand. I had my xA for 2 1/2 years, and I loved it for what it was. But once it came to getting another car, Scion didn't have anything new to offer that I wanted...so I sold mine and got myself a car from another company.

^ This made me think os something I hadn't really thought of before-if something happened to my xB and I had to replace it I don't know if I'd do another Scion either-hear me out.

The original xB was one of a kind-even the cube (other than the looks) doesn't effect me much. I kinda like the xD and the 2nd gen xB is fine but the route to performance parts seems to be going pretty slow with those and they are heavier and bigger (the xD being pretty close).

A mazda 3 seems like a better fit if I needed to replace mine and performance parts everywhere. The GTI or rabbit would be better too. Maybe even a matrix as for more options.

Going for the tC-I think it is very good at what it is-semi-performance stock, 2 door, nice looking and reliable but it isn't what I want and unfortunately neither toyota or scion has anything similar.

There is nothing like the 1st gen xB and that would force me to look for a different kind of car and that would most likely lead me away from Scion.

I love the Toyota quality and the super-ease of modding it myself but so would a regular toyota or a mazda and to some degree a VW-so I would probably shop elsewhere

That would be probably a first step but by now I am looking at a minimum 2 year old car so low miles would still be off warranty most likely-I have to admit I like having mine and re-modding a second one in a different color (possibly) would be cool.

I would love to have one similar to gothbox just because it is so cool and we are far enough apart mine would be unique to this area of the states.

Well, here's my 2 cents.... It seems to me in that throughout this thread that the Scion brand is more of a success than most realize. Yeah most of us here love our babies... whether its xA, xB, xB2, tC, xD.... If you stop to think about it.... there isn't another brand that grabs the interest of such a wide span of ages. Anywhere from teenagers to retirees. Name any other vehicle that has accomplished that feat. The quality I've had has been better than an other brand I've ever owned and that's a lot of rides in my time. I am on my 2nd tC just got my new 08 and already modded. But I will agree with others on here.... that the next gen tC needs to be cool and a hit to keep the brand going....but not sooo cool that I'll want to upgrade.

Heh. I'm 18, and just bought a TC last week because of it's efficiency, reliability, comfort, trunk space (w/ seats down), and the Toyota name. I plan on keeping this car for a long time.

sefalik...... welcome to the Scion community. A lot of people here have purchased their Scions for that reason...and you get the bonus of being able to easily customize it if you want without breaking the bank.... unless you want to that is.

I'm tired of all these concept cars coming out and nothing being done withthem. This car is by far unique as hell and would help keep scion on the map as a car company that reaches out the our generation.

BUILD THE FUSE NEED I SAY MORE!!!

They would screw it up and change it too much from the concept. It's not a very practicle vehicle either.

Mouse, I dont think most of feel that Scion as company is a faliure because Scion does so much for its owners. I myself went to the Miami event, 2 exposed events, 2 V.I.P. events, ect ect. I have so much free crap I could make an ebay store lol. My brother owns a Mini Cooper Clubman and Mini is the only other car co. that does anything like Scion does. Alot of us just see a let down on the vehicles that should be addressed....thats basically our issue I feel.

Fully agree. Scion is a great company and I will stick with them as long as they stick with us. h us. Also they should build the fuse practicle or not. They could totally do it with a regular interior. That is the only impracticle part. Everything else would be perfect!!!

Not really^^^ They don't need another 2 seater. They NEED to bring over the new bB and call it an xB and loose what they are calling xB now. Otherwise it may be curtains for them sadly.
They have nothing interesting right now to offer. The new bB would bring that back to the dealers. I talk to people all the time that wish they could still buy THE xB.

That would be great but not cost effective. Scion is all about giving you the most for the least and a RWD platform would drive the cost out of most Scion buyers range. It's really too bad that they didn't do it with the tC from the start.

RICANTC,

Dude... re-read my post's on this thread. I wasn't the one that said "most feel that Scion company as a whole is a failure" I was the one that posted that I think it's been an overall great success reaching many different demographics that other car makers just can not do.
The salt air down there might be affecting your eyes on here... lol :D

In your case, the Scion was a failure. If you were drawn away from the Lexus showroom (big profits there!) to the Scion showroom then they lost money on the deal. The whole point was to bring brand new young buyers into the Toyota dealer, not to attract people who were already there.

They probably lost money on me too, since I was looking at things like the Rav4 and CRV before I bought my xB1. It did everything I wanted without the extra size and weight, 4WD systems, etc.
