You all are too funny! I saw Toyota's pix at the dealer today... Proprietary, I'm sure, but nonetheless... MUCH BETTER THAN THE CONJECTURE! Of course the new xB isn't the old one, and will turn off many current owners. It will also attract many new buyers that hated the original... (sigh). It is too bad that our economy car which was really all !that! has gone the way of the dinosaur, and adding insult to injury, Scion decided not to rename the platform (as they rightfully should have). But on the bright side, we all now own a collectors item. As for me, I'm going to drive the **** out of it, because that's what it wsa made for. ...and I may just buy one or two more for parts. They do have an RS04 at the dealer I could mothball if I get it quick ;) Lament the loss of the third window and the event of the rising beltline, mourn the cost of the new product, grieve the economy or salute the power of the new engine, but never say die to the first generation xB!

Wow! Front windshield angle looks to have changed slightly in angle/degree-I hope the new glass is stronger for all sake.

Who says you have to finish

As long as you can get more than you owe for your current xB (and hopefully enough to put some cash down on the new one) you can trade up without worrying too much.

It is when you get less than you owe for trade in that you are in trouble. Then you end up owing, way more than the car is worth, even before you drive it off the lot.

I try to pay a downpayment enough to cover the initial depreciation of the vehicle. On my xB, I put down $3000 cash, and I have stayed in front of my loan the whole time. Currently I owe about $2500 less than I could sell my xB for.

Unless you can break even on the trade through your dealer. Then toss in a little extra and keep your payments where your at now and have a new car. The down side, your now into a new car for another 5 years.

Looking at it again, it sort of looks like what you would get if you crossed an xA with a 1 gen xB, then enlarged it 10%.

Not bad, but it's really getting into Honda CRV territory. I wonder what the curb weight and mileage will be? I'll bet that it won't get the real-world 28MPG I'm enjoying now.

Pity that they didn't just stick the Prius drivetrain into it...

I am glad they didn't stick the prius drive train in it. Because then it would not have sold for anywhere near 20k or under.

Plus all that extra cash for real world 40 mpg is not really worth it.

actualy, my old man just got a prius and he is actualy getting about the same as the promoted milage. hes getting about 50-55 on higway and about 48-52 in city.

if there is anyway possible of putting in the prius hybrid system in the original xB, i would totaly go for it. it's got the room and space for it easy and compared to the prius, it would weigh less.

I was one of the first to say that they went too "usdm" with the new body style but after doing some snooping around the Toyota JP website I am going to have to admit that I was wrong.

When you look at the side profile of the new bB compared to the new xB...they really didn't change that much.

^^^excpet that the new bB will fit inside the new xB if you lay the seats flat.

The bB got smaller...the xB got bigger.

Mark my words as soon as the next xB comes out people will stop crying about how much they dont like them. Personally i think they will be jealous becasue this new platform with a better engine will bring in a new era of people who will take this new box to new levels. I am sure ZPI and other turbo charged companies are alreay drooling over the fact that they will be adding this new addition to there long line of great products.

To each their own when it comes to opinions and you are intitled to it. but seriously stop COMPARING the two boxes. They are some serious and subtle changes. I am more prone to buy the new box than the old. I only liked the old xB due to those that actually DID something to it. Stock it looks like crap, way too boxey, but after a few mods and deffinately some body work it looked great. The new xB will for a fact take over the other older version. With a better engine albeit the gas savings you would have with the older, i think the next gen xB will be sweeping the shows to come.

Again MARK MY WORDS, this will come to pass.. To those that love their old xB, good, keep it up, but to say that this new xB will not do anything and be a bomb speak for yourself. what are you really angry at? If you like yours then wish the others that will get the new good luck. Hey, it's still a Scion, and there is nothing you can do about that. Scion's 4 Life.... I plan on keeping my tC and i might be getting the new xB if i decide to do it.

heres a quick one though. Take a good look at the xD top half and then the new xB lower half, Put them both together and you get a really close version of the Japan bB!!!! Look again and you will see it... Makes you wonder if that will ever make the Scion FUSE, which would be a tragedy if they dont... Oh well.. Later.

I find it a bit humorous that after all that BS from Scion that their models would only last a few years and they would always be coming up with "new and fresh" vehicles. the first thing they do is redesign an existing model and give it exactly the same designation!

Of course the xA name got the axe, but the xD is closer to an xA then the xBv2 is to the xBv1

I think the bigger engine is nice, but I don't know about the styling. Although the lowered one w/ wheels does catch my attention.

personally, i think the whole concept of the xB was lost along the way. Its nice if its modded but stock? The front end is pretty long. The interior looks decorated, not designed. And that sport tiptronic transmition is a joke for the xB. On a sports car yes, not for the xB. In my opinion, this xB is different, but definately lacks the "B" in xB. I like the 1st gen WAY better.
