Or maybe they could use an engine from a different platform rather than the Camry to keep the price of the car down....
The dealers on this thread have already dropped hints twice that the xD will have the 2.4L in it. So its pretty much confirmed that the xD is coming with the camary/tC 2.4L. Its going to have to have some seriously tall gearing to keep the mileage up though. The 1.8L would have been a much better choice IMO.

*sigh*, but there was what quite possibly a better source that dropped a bunch of info and happened to let out that the 1.8L will be used.

Even if all the new Scion models ( xD, xB, tC),for 08 use the 2.4L now in use in the current tC and Camry, the 1.5L will still live on in the Toyota Yaris.

Who knows, maybe the 08 Yaris will also run on the 2.4L...only time will tell...

I'm about 95% sure that the xD will run on the 1.8L though from a reliable source.

Does this mean that the 13 weeks I've been waiting for my 06 BSP manual XA actually will be worth it? I only put around 3,000 miles on a year, so in 20 years when these are "collector's cars", I should only have about 60,000 miles on it. Glad I ordered the xA when I did because ultimately I want one of all of the Scion models. I'll just add the xD to the list now.

i just sold a 1998 civic hatch with 52k miles on it for $5500. my lease payoff (yeah, i know- never again!) on it in 2001 was $6000.

i expect to have even LESS miles on the scion in 8 years... probably 3 to 4k/yr. i should be able to get a lot of my money back if i ever decide i like the new xA/xD/ractis/whatever better. but itll have to be a LOT better.

her airbags never go off, and she kills these cars, not even a usable part on the entire car, the last time she crossed 4 lanes of oncoming traffic, bounced off the side of the bridge, side swiped a car, went under an 18 wheeler and wound up on the side on the other side and against the guard rail, and shes in her 30's early thirties
