Default 08 tc headlight problems

hi, does anyone know how to narrow the cutoff line for the projector headlights? i currently have a HID kit on and everything looks great except that obnoxious reflection on top. it widens as you move further away and it blinds people from behind. i dont think its the HID because its been there even when i had those halogen bulbs. it started to happen after i adjusted the aiming screw for the first time. please reply if you know anything about that. thanks!
btw do u guys know know to post pics? lol

Are you talking about the light above the cutoff line? Get rid of the squirrel finders inside the halogen projectors.

The correct way would be by removing the halogen projectors and installing real HID projectors in its place.

I installed a HID kit in the stock housings also and my drivers side one was fine, but my passenger one wasn't centered in the housing so my solution was to partially untwist the bulb and that allowed for a slightly more centered position in the projector. That will help a bit.

As far as the 'light spray' you'll almost always have that, even on super expensive HID's in luxury cars. The key is to just make it as straight as possible.

Best way to tell if your lights are both even, is put a pair of dark sunglasses on repeat kneeling and standing in front of them....you'll notice one will get brighter before the other does. Adjust them using the adjustment gear on the lamps to make sure they are level.

its not just light spray
i think people call it hotspots
because it focuses into a box on top of both headlights like right on top of it and both disperses as u move out

The 08s have a squirrel finder that shoots light up on signs and stuff so you can see them better. I believe it is like a metal tab that need to be bent down inside the headlight. It was there with the halogen bulbs but will get brighter with the HIDs.

You can do this, but I don't recommend it.

The cheap easy and probably better way is to to the JB Weld & soda can trick. The Camry guys do this.
I did all the leg work for you and found the DIY too:

But please don't bend them down. I think it seems like you are breaking your car when you do this.

Yea I wasn't really suggesting bending it, I just heard that is what some people did. I really don't think the glare is that bad. But nice find, defiantly seems easy.

I am running 5000K HIDs and I know what he is talking about but it never bothered me. But I have only been flashed once with my HIDs, but I was coming down the hill and they were coming up at me. So I think they were in my cut off not the squirrel finders.

I bent mine down, and it made the cutoff line perfect. There's nothing wrong with it, and you don't need to JB weld it.

Instructions: Remove the head light and look inside the projector through the back, you will see a metal flap. Take a pencil and insert the eraser end, and bend the flap all the way down, DONE and perfect cutoff.

Disadvantages: Street signs aren't lit up till u get about 10 feet from them.

There is not really an issue, the squirrel finder shoots light up so you can see signs at night. The HIDs make this light a lot brighter which some believe blinds other drivers. Also some don't like it because they don't have a perfect cutoff because of the squirrel finder. Remember the 08s were never made for HIDs so they will never have a perfect cutoff. I don't mind it and I really don't think it blinds people that much.

Look, it depends on the state. Here I see cars running HIDs all day long that are 8000K and higher. I have seen red. And they are in reflector housings. The 08s and up have the projector so it is harder to notice.

I passed inspection with mine which they stopped me for some reverse lights so I know they were looking, I pass cops all the time and have no issue. Really it is a very simple and worth while mod if you are buying for more light.

I would recommend HIDs to anyone looking to see better at night. And the squirrel finders are not bright at all it just bothers people that they are there.

I bent my squirrel spotters, cutoff is almost perfect there is tiny bit off light above but its barely noticeable. It just looks like several colors (blue, yellow, red) I can see the projector shifts a bit a bit a in color when I see the cutoff line bouncing.

My big things is if you bend the squirrel finders you are must be raising the cut off. I don't see how doing that would not change you cut off for worse (Meaning it raises up). I could be wrong, but from my understanding that is how it works.
