Sorry if this is posted somewhere but i searched for it and found nothing. How do you remove the third brakelight without scratching anything or breaking it? Do you have to remove the interior cover?

I think I wrote that DIY you're looking at.

Just a quick note, when you pull off the 3rd brake light (after you've unbolted everything), make sure to pull evenly across the whole length of the light. If you use one side as a lever and the other side as a pivot, there's a good chance you'll break the corner of the light.

 

i used a box cutter and ran it along the adhesive as i pulled out the light. comes out alot easier with less chance of breaking it by having to use force

 

Yeah I know at work we have a problem with the rear lights breaking on the Z4's. Their 3rd brake light is similar to ours.
