Default Approx. cost for getting some scrates fixed?

i have a few scratches and chips that are bothering me and i would like to know the average cost to do it at a body shop.

before you jump on me and say DYI, i dont feel comfortable using a buffer and then painting.

so how much should it cost and how long should it take.

thanks

i think it will dependon the depth of the scratch/size, ect... the shop, how much they will have to blend in the scratch and what not. i know cuz i'm starting to look around for next spring (after al the snowfilled winter) and i heard its just the blending part that will be the hardest part. if they aren't deep i would try meguiar's scratch x to see if that helps at all.

get yourself this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846

it works wonders for minor scratches, and its a lot cheaper than having a pro do it.

i have a chip in the front from a rock, and a few deeper scratches from a brick wall...dont ask. otherwise i have a minor scratch from a dude who opened his door into me.

pretty much i would need some compound for the deeper chips right? then i would have to get some touch up paint or something? this is if i were to do it myself.

Depends on a lot of things. 1st off where are the scratches and chips? Hood, bumper, door?! etc.... Rule of thumb on srcates is, if you can feel it with your fingernail, more than likely it will not buff out and will need to be painted, or you can go the touch up route if you dont mind if you will be able to see it. Could be costly if you want it done right because the scratches and chips would have to be repaired (depending on the severity) and they would do what insurance companies call "partial refinish and clear entire panel". Or the other route is to spot repair/blend each area but there is a good chance that down the road the refinished "spot blend" would fail and you would have a big halo where the repair was, not to mention color matching is much harder to do this way.

Alright but from what you said about the bumper it sounds like it would need to be taken off, chips repaired and primed, sanded scuffed, blended and cleared. Off the top of my head....Body Labor @ $52/hour (what it is by me) 1.5h R&I bumper, 1h or 2h for repair, 3.5h refinish plus paint and materials.....

roughly...... $453 plus tax....give or take

Depends how deep the scratches are because if it is only in the clear, they would be able to sand them out and re-clear the hood. Something in the relm of $500.
